This is a goal of mine
Imagine guys with +$5,000,000 in $QQQ. No singular stocks, no options, no playing earnings. Just sitting back and watching the greatest thing do its work: compounding. $5M 10 years ago in QQQ would be $32 million now.

Has anyone done this? Seems cool to try
your credit card company will lower your interest rate, waive your annual fee, and hand you bonus points in a single 15-minute phone call if you say one sentence "I'm considering closing this account because I've received better offers from other banks" that sentence gets you transferred to the retention department. retention reps have a budget regular reps don't. they can do things that the person you normally talk to literally cannot access in their system. here's what they're authorized to offer you: waive your annual fee ($95-$550 saved instantly). LendingTree data says 93% of people who asked got it reduced or removed. ninety three percent. and almost nobody asks lower your APR by an average of 6.7 percentage points. on a $5,000 balance that saves you $335 a year in interest. 76% success rate just for asking reverse late fees from the past 12 months. 81% success rate. $29-$40 per fee. most people have 2-3 they forgot about retention bonus of 10,000-30,000 points or elevated cashback for 3-6 months. they offer this unprompted sometimes just because you called the retention line here's the exact call script because most people freeze up on the phone: "what's the best APR you can offer me?" - if they say 19.99%, respond with "I have a 15.99% offer from [competitor]. can you match or beat that?" they'll usually come down another 2-3 points "can you waive my annual fee this year? I've been a customer for [X] years and the [competitor card] has no annual fee. closing this account would hurt my average account age which I don't want to do, but I can't justify paying $95 for this" "I noticed a late fee from [month]. I've been reliable for [X] years. can you reverse that as a courtesy?" "are there any retention offers currently available on my account?" - this is the magic question because sometimes they have a pre-loaded offer sitting there that they'll only mention if you specifically ask do this on every card you own. most people have 3-4 cards. realistic savings per card: $200-$800/year between the fee waiver, the rate reduction, and the reversed fees. that's $600-$3,200 a year for four phone calls the reason this works: banks spend $300-$500 to acquire each new credit card customer. losing you costs more than giving you everything you asked for. the retention department exists because the math says keeping you at a discount is cheaper than replacing you at full price if they won't budge, actually close the card and take the competitor's offer. you weren't bluffing. you were negotiating. if they don't value you, use the competitor card for 6 months and they'll send you a comeback offer that's even better you've been overpaying because you never called the retention line. 15 minutes. real money
