A four-year-old boy touched a relic of Carlo Acutis. Later, doctors found the condition he was born with was no longer there. ⤵️
His name was Matheus Vianna, and he was born in Brazil with a rare condition called annular pancreas, where pancreatic tissue surrounds part of the intestine and can obstruct the passage of food.
For years, eating was a struggle. Matheus frequently vomited, had difficulty tolerating solid foods, and became dangerously weak.
Then, in 2013, when Matheus was four years old, his family heard that a relic of Carlo Acutis was being brought to a church in Campo Grande, Brazil.
Carlo had died from leukemia in 2006 at only 15 years old. He was known for his extraordinary devotion to the Eucharist, and although he had not yet been beatified, people were already asking for his intercession.
Matheus’ family brought him to the church. Before approaching the relic, his grandfather told him to ask Carlo for something very specific:
→ "Ask him to help you stop vomiting."
So Matheus walked up, touched the relic, and made an incredibly simple request:
→ “Stop vomiting.”
According to his family, the change was immediate.
When Matheus returned home, he asked for food he normally could not tolerate. He ate it, and he didn’t vomit. Then he continued eating normally.
But what happened afterward made the case even more remarkable.
Doctors examined Matheus again and reportedly found that the pancreatic abnormality associated with his condition was no longer present.
The case was eventually investigated by the Catholic Church, including medical and theological examination to determine whether there was a natural explanation for the healing.
In 2020, Pope Francis officially recognized Matheus’ healing as a miracle attributed to Carlo Acutis’ intercession, clearing the way for Carlo’s beatification.
And years later, Carlo Acutis would be declared a saint.
Think about how this entire story began.
A desperately sick four-year-old approached the relic of a teenager he had never met, touched it, and prayed perhaps the simplest prayer imaginable:
→ “Stop vomiting.”
A child asked. A family prayed. And a healing followed that would become part of Carlo Acutis’ path to sainthood.
Saint Carlo Acutis, pray for us.
💬 If a four-year-old can approach God with faith this simple, what would you ask a saint to intercede for in your life right now?
