Tomorrow, the Georgetown Center for the Constitution is hosting a book workshop for our Faculty Director, Professor Stephanie Barclay, and her forthcoming book, Constitutional Rights in a Democracy. The book asks a foundational question: What work should constitutional rights do, and which institutions should protect them? It develops a new account of constitutional-rights adjudication rooted in democratic principles and human flourishing. Two years of extraordinary growth, expanded reach, and lasting impact. The Georgetown Center for the Constitution’s 2024–2026 Special Report highlights a remarkable period of new programs, influential scholarship, and growing impact across the legal and academic communities. In just the past two years, the Center has: • Engaged 175 legal scholars • Trained 150 law clerks • Convened 80 judges • Hosted 52 events • Launched four new programs, providing new opportunities for scholarship, collaboration, and publication But our impact extends far beyond the numbers. Our alumni are shaping law and public policy across the executive branch, White House, Congress, nonprofits, the legal profession, and even the federal judiciary. Last week at the Georgetown Center for the Constitution brought together scholars, students, and experts for a full slate of programs and engaging discussions. Tuesday → Faculty Director Professor Stephanie Barclay delivered Ohio State’s annual Constitution Day Lecture, “The Future of the Religion Clauses at the Supreme Court,” exploring the future of religious liberty at the Court. Wednesday → The Center co-hosted Georgetown Law’s Supreme Court Term Preview for the first time. Professor Barclay joined leading Supreme Court experts to discuss major cases coming before the Court in its October 2026 Term. Thursday, Constitution Day → Faculty Director Professor Randy Barnett spoke to Georgetown Law’s Federalist Society on “But What About Slavery? Reframing the Founding,” examining antislavery constitutionalism and the Founding. Friday → We closed out the week with a Book Workshop for Professor Brad Snyder on his forthcoming book, Special Favorite of the Laws: How the Supreme Court Overturned the Last Civil Rights Act of Reconstruction and Prevented Congress from Protecting our Constitutional Rights.
