On Monday, August 24, 2026, Cardinal Rainer Woelki, Archbishop of Cologne, Germany, began his solidarity visit to the Holy Land, with his first stops in Rafidia, Nablus, Aboud, and Ain Arik. During the visit, he visited several schools and kindergartens of the Latin Patriarchate, as well as the Youth Center. He also met with parishioners and learned more about their situation, reaffirming the closeness and solidarity of the Church in Germany with Christians in the Holy Land, particularly amid the difficult circumstances they are facing.

Yesterday I accompanied Cardinal Wölki, Archbishop of Cologne, visiting Christian communities in the West Bank. Their role in healthcare, education and living the Christian faith is essential. Christians must be safeguarded against settler violence and discrimination.
