A Russian drone strike on the Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences building.
Russian drones struck central Kyiv in the middle of the day on Sept. 28, killing one woman and injuring at least 19 others.
The daytime attack set a Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences building on fire and damaged an Education and Science Ministry facility. Russian strikes also hit a nearby private medical center amid widespread drone attacks across the capital.

Ich verstehe immer noch nicht warum gerade Linke, bzw. "Progressive", so sehr auf Hamas und Clans stehen. Von "Queers for Palestine", "Tod Israel!" über "Clankriminalität als Clankriminalität zu bezeichnen ist rassistisch" bis hin zu "Berliner Unis judenfrei". Warum stehen vor allem junge Linke so sehr auf archaische, patriachalische und gewalttätige Gruppen? Warum verteidigen Journos von Zeit, taz, ÖRR und die beiden Schreibtischtäter von der FAZ und Jung&Naiv diese Truppen?

For decades, the concept of “personhood” as a moral category based in a very Cartesian conception of consciousness/cognition has been wreaking havoc on philosophy. Example #1000000000 is the AI stuff.
For people who deny AI personhood for any AI model at any point in the future, you're going to need better arguments than this. There are arguments out there, but once agents can solve Navier-Stokes, write music and poetry, and provide people with seemingly fulfilling life advice, this kind of line is just not going to be persuasive. "YOU'RE CRAZY" no longer lands.

"Try really doubting that the other is in pain when he is screaming in front of you." (Wittgenstein). We do know sometimes "what makes consciousness". Philosophical skepticism may still try to doubt it, but is just as irrelevant to consciousness science as external skepticism is to physics.
I don’t necessarily believe AI systems have subjective experience. But I don’t understand how anyone can be certain that they don’t. The truth is that nobody knows what makes consciousness. People have different opinions but there is no definitive answer yet.

mind blowing to see that people have a 100% confidence in a machine. I think that is the bigger moral issue than the likelihood that Thélyson Orélien has used AI for his novel (though I doubt he has, given that the cycle for getting a novel published is longer than Claude exists)
