The Power of a Note!
Have you ever gotten a Note from a Person? No, not a Birthday Card, Get-well Card or some other type of card that you would find at Hallmark. I mean a Handwritten Note! Nothing special, just a note card recognizing something that you did or something that happened to you that is special!
My profession is Football! I have been involved in Football for 48 years of my working life! 16 years as a coach at different levels, 28 years as an NFL Scout, 4 year scouting for the Senior Bowl and consulting coupled that with 10 years as a player from junior high to high school to college for a total of 58 years involved in Football!
Football is an unstable profession. People leave to take other jobs or get fired and have to find new jobs! It is tough to sustain a career in the world of Football!
This is where the Power of a Note comes in! We do not recognize a person enough when they get new job, a promotion or just a life milestone! That is why I write a
HANDWRITTEN NOTE! To recognize a person’s accomplishments!
I started writing notes in 1986. I was influenced by the offensive coordinator at Weber State, Dave Arslanian. He was always writing congratulation notes to professors, colleagues and friends. I thought it was a fantastic way of congratulating people!
Thus, I write written notes!
My notes are simple. Get a new job – a note! Get a promotion – a note! A new accomplishment – a note! Help me out – a note!
I write a note to any coach I know who got a new job or achieved major accomplishment. After a college visit, I would write a note to all who have helped me! When LSU won the National Championship, I sent a note to all coaches and staff that I knew! 38 notes!
When I visited schools, I would see my Note cards hanging up on Coaches’ bulletin boards! It makes me proud that I touched a person’s life!
Write a Note and feel the Power To Make People Feel Special!!
