JV is about 75% responsible for bringing back my generation of Tigers fans. He’s the best Tigers pitcher ever, and one of the best in the history of the game. Tip of the cap on an incredible career
How can you not be romantic about baseball?

I don’t understand why people criticize players for posting positive at-bats or pitching performances on social media. Post your success. Promote yourself. I get calls from college coaches about players they first saw on social media. You never know who’s watching.

It's not hard to get the coach's attention...
Recruiting: 1 - If you send an email thats staged, coaches can tell you just change school names. 2 - If i get a staged email or recommendation from one of the recruiting services, will not reply 3 - if you send a personal email one paragraph saying you are, why our school interest you, personalized i will always reply

The recruiting process can feel overwhelming when you think about everything you need to do over the next two years. So don’t. I get overwhelmed deciding what to eat for lunch. Just ask: What’s the next thing I need to do? Do that. Then ask again.

I wrote a book… Basically everything I know and believe about baseball recruiting, organized into one guide. It’s not QUITE ready to send out yet, but we’re getting close. If you want a copy, shoot me a DM and I’ll add you to the waitlist. Everyone on the waitlist gets the book 50% off when it drops.

Baseball is awesome
4 years ago Bo Davidson had quit baseball, he was playing slow pitch softball and working at a warehouse. 3 years ago he was virtually unknown playing in community college when a Giants scout accidentally discovered him. On Monday, Bo made history with a hit, stolen base and run in his MLB debut. Never give up on your dreams. @NBCSGiants #sfgiants

I’ve said it before, but @JamesCirincion3 built and executed a recruiting plan to perfection. He is the poster child for how to take recruiting into your own hands. And in the end he found his fit at an amazing institution. Supper happy for the kid!
I’m excited to announce my commitment to the admissions process at Swarthmore College! @GRBSTiKS @SwatBaseball @PrepBaseballWI

I see that “creating space” is taking over for the word “coil” as the hottest phrase in hitting

When people say they like vegetables, I don’t believe them. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll eat them and most veggies are fine. But to like them? You’re just a liar My non baseball thought of the day

Recruiting is just as stressful, frustrating, taxing, & uncharted for the coach as it is the player. We’re all working toward the same goal. Instead of bashing players & coaches for their decisions/tactics, have an open and understanding mind for both sides. It’s a fun process!

If you’re going to a camp or showcase, prepare to show off every tool you have. But more importantly, know what your BEST tool is and make damn sure you show it. If you’re an OF with an average arm but you can really run, of course keep working on the arm, but you’d better be ready to FLY. If you’re a catcher who runs a 7.4 but has an absolute cannon, a 7.2 isn’t going to make people think you’re a speed demon, so make sure that arm is ready to show off. You don’t have to be great at everything. But when you have a tool that separates you, make sure the coaches leave knowing about it.

Want to know which schools you might fit? Do a little detective work. Study their rosters. Look at their players’ size, metrics, backgrounds, and where they played before college. Coaches leave clues everywhere. And no, you don’t need to be Sherlock Holmes. If my dumb brain can figure it out, so can you.

I talk a lot about recruiting. Emails. Camps. Video. Outreach. Follow-ups. But don’t overcomplicate it. The single most important part of getting recruited? Get really, really good at baseball.
