🇬🇷🇪🇺The Aegean constitutes an external maritime border of the European Union, established and regulated by binding treaties, international law, and consistent state practice.
Public discussions of the Aegean Sea in relation to Turkey are often framed as a technical maritime dispute between two neighboring states.
⚠️This framing is misleading.
It suggests legal ambiguity where none exists and obscures the real issue: not competing claims under international law, but repeated attempts by Turkey to manufacture such claims through pressure, assertion, and the explicit threat of force.
❌The main problem in the Aegean is not unresolved law, but Turkey’s refusal to accept the territorial and maritime boundaries established by binding treaties and long-standing international practice.
🇪🇺🌊The Aegean is not a shared open body of water separating two continental coastlines. It is a densely inhabited archipelago composed of thousands of Greek islands, whose sovereignty is internationally recognised and consistently reflected in treaties, official maps, and decades of uncontested state practice. This is not a matter of interpretation or negotiation. It is a settled legal reality.
From the northern Aegean to the Dodecanese, Greek islands form a continuous maritime space that functions as a living region. People commute by sea. Fishing, tourism, and trade rely on predictable and peaceful maritime conditions.
‼️Rather than acknowledging settled sovereignty and clearly defined maritime entitlements, Turkey has pursued a strategy of gradual erosion:
Refusing to accept Greek sovereign rights, constructing narratives of “grey zones,” issuing unilateral claims without legal basis, and normalizing constant pressure through airspace violations, naval harassment, and the standing threat of war should Greece exercise its lawful rights under international law.
⚠️What is being challenged in the Aegean is not a bilateral issue between two neighbouring states, but the integrity of Europe’s southeastern external border.
Ignoring Turkish revisionism does not preserve stability; the absence of a firm and consistent EU response has allowed pressure tactics to escalate, transforming legal certainty into a growing security risk.
🇪🇺How Europe responds in the Aegean will determine whether its borders are upheld by law - or gradually destabilised through coercion. In that sense, the Aegean is a frontline test of the credibility of the European legal order itself.

A week after @USAMBTurkiye, Tom Barrack, stated that "Iran is not an evil regime"¹, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan (the three that signed the "Mecca Defence Pact"²) rush to support Iran; the pretext "de-escalation"³. Coincidence?
The two main outcomes of the summit:
1. Israel must withdraw from Gaza, the West Bank, southern Lebanon and southern Syria.
2. Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan must work together without foreign interference.

Only a fool @HakanFidan could believe that the Mecca Defence Pact is targeting Iran. The world is very much aware of Turkey's, Pakistan's and the KSA's pan-Islamic agenda (the Ummah).
Even the U.S., NATO and the EU which often back and turn a blind eye to Turkey's (and Ummah's) objectives are aware of it - the Halkbank scandal¹, which involved Turkey and Iran, one of the largest sanctions-evasion cases in history (miraculously dismissed last June under a "preferred prosecution agreement") is just one of the many examples where the U.S. chose to turn a blind eye.
Both yourself and Erdogan, Hakan Fidan, have been from day one mouthpieces of and for the mullahs of Iran; several are your public statements.
You have also and somehow managed to have @realDonaldTrump eating from the palm of your hands. History I guess will prove if my statement is true. Now, for how long President Trump can afford to be deceived by your bunch of thugs, that is another story.
Not much different, several European leaders, "obliged" by their in each country respective financial institutions to support Turkey since they hold significant financial exposure and liabilities tied to Turkey also turn a blind eye. No wonder the EU and the Dutch Chief of NATO are bent on integrating, and god forbid, Turkey into the EU defence architecture.
On a related note, @RTErdogan clearly dropped the mask in full adherence to Necmettin Erbakan's, Erdogan's mentor, teachings of pan-Islamism and anti-Westernism. Erbakan², that framed jihad not as violent warfare, but as an all-out moral, political, and social struggle to re-Islamicize society.
Who the Mecca Defence Pact targets? It targets the West whole and all those that do not adhere to Islamism. If only the corrupt Western politicians were not (a) as greedy and/or (b) lost in stratagems that include regions of people - Islamists and jihadists - they comprehend so little to nothing about.
At this current stage, one of the Mecca Defence Pact's main targets and priority is to minimize, isolate or eliminate the anti-Islamist bastions in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East and the Indo-Pacific - India, Israel, Cyprus, Greece.
¹ Turkey's majority state-owned bank Halkbank was systematically laundering money for Iran bypassing U.S. sanctions against Iran.
² Necmettin Erbakan, in 1997, then President of Turkey, called eight Muslim-majority countries to participate in what he named the D-8: Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt, and Nigeria. They all did.

These countries are defending international law and the rules-based international order, not merely backing Greece.

NO. The ICJ has never enclaved an entire group of substantial inhabited islands (like those in the Aegean or Crete) by eliminating their EEZ so other states take the surrounding seas. It has limited only small/remote features, such as Serpents’ Island in Romania v. Ukraine, to 12 nm territorial seas. Larger islands generate full entitlements under Art. 121, adjusted only for equity in delimitation.

📍Güney Kıbrıs’ta İsrail’in Hadassah Medical Centre adıyla açtığı hastane, güney Kıbrıs'ta krize neden oldu.
Merkezin Rum yönetiminden gerekli izinler alınmadan faaliyete geçtiği ortaya çıktı.
Krizin asıl nedeni, yalnızca “tanısal görüntüleme merkezi” lisansına sahip olan Hadassah Medical Centre’ın tam donanımlı bir hastane gibi hizmet vermeye başlaması oldu.
Rum Sağlık Bakanlığı, tesisin “tam donanımlı hastane izni” bulunmadığını belirterek soruşturma başlattı. Rum medyası olayı manşetlere çekti, yaşananlar için skandalı ifadeleri kullandı.
İsrail Sağlık Bakanlığı da hastanenin açılışından kendilerine bilgi verilmediğini savundu.
Buna rağmen, Hadassah yönetiminin Limasol’daki tesis için İsrail hükümetinden 46 milyon 500 bin Euro tutarında destek aldığı belirlendi.

🚨تطور مهم في العلاقات المصرية اليونانية، بعد إعلان رئيس أساقفة سيناء النهارده 24 أكتوبر موافقته على توقيع اتفاق مع الدولة المصرية لتسوية أزمة دير سانت كاترين، وإنهاء نزاع قانوني استمر لسنوات!
🔴خلونا نفهم الحكاية وإيه علاقة اليونان بدير موجود على أرض مصرية؟
دير سانت كاترين واحد من أقدم الأديرة العاملة في العالم، اتبنى في القرن السادس الميلادي، يعني من حوالي 1600 سنة، والرهبان عايشين فيه وبيمارسوا شعائرهم من وقتها، قبل ظهور قوانين تسجيل الملكية الحديثة بقرون طويلة.
والدير موجود في قلب سيناء، على أرض مصرية خاضعة للسيادة والقانون المصري، لكنه مرتبط كنسيًا بالأرثوذكسية اليونانية، وعلشان كده اليونان مهتمة بمستقبله الديني.
🔴طيب المشكلة بدأت منين؟
مع تطور قوانين الملكية، ظهرت مشكلة الوضع القانوني للدير والأراضي المحيطة بيه، لأن وجود الرهبان في المكان طوال القرون دي مش معناه تلقائيًا إن عندهم سند ملكية للأرض.
وده أدى لنزاع قضائي بدأ سنة 2014 بين محافظة جنوب سيناء والوحدة المحلية لمدينة سانت كاترين وإدارة الدير، على ملكية وحيازة 71 قطعة أرض، بعضها كان ليه عقود بيع ابتدائية من سنة 2004.
وفي مايو 2025، محكمة استئناف الإسماعيلية أكدت ملكية الدولة المصرية للأراضي محل الحكم، مع الحفاظ على حق الرهبان في ممارسة شعائرهم داخل الدير.
لكن الحكم أثار قلق الرهبان والكنيسة الأرثوذكسية، لأنه رغم حمايته للنشاط الديني داخل الدير، أمر بإخلاء بعض الأراضي المحيطة بيه، ومنها أراضٍ مرتبطة بحياة الرهبان اليومية، زي الزراعة والمرافق التابعة للدير.
فكان التخوف من فقدان بعض الأماكن اللي بيعتمدوا عليها، وعدم وضوح ضمانات استمرار الانتفاع بيها مستقبلًا، مش من صدور قرار بإغلاق الدير نفسه.
وعلشان كده اليونان سعت لحل الموضوع دبلوماسيًا مع مصر، يضمن استقرار الوضع القانوني للدير والرهبان، مع الحفاظ على حقوق الدولة المصرية.
وهنا جه دور الرئيس السيسي، اللي تدخل على المستوى السياسي، وأجرى اتصالًا برئيس الوزراء اليوناني كيرياكوس ميتسوتاكيس بعد حكم مايو 2025، وأكد له التزام مصر بالحفاظ على المكانة الدينية للدير، مع احترام أحكام القضاء المصري.
🔴وبعد مفاوضات طويلة، أعلن رئيس أساقفة سيناء النهارده موافقته على توقيع الاتفاق، اللي بيستهدف:
👈الحفاظ على ملكية الدولة المصرية للأراضي التي أكد الحكم ملكيتها ليها.
👈ضمان استمرار الحياة الرهبانية وحماية حق الرهبان في الانتفاع بالمكان، مع منحهم تصاريح إقامة طويلة الأمد.
👈تسوية النزاعات القانونية والحفاظ على ممتلكات الدير الكنسية وطابعه الديني والتاريخي.
🔵وزير الخارجية اليوناني جورج جيرابيتريتيس وصف التطور بأنه يوم تاريخي، ووجّه شكر خاص للرئيس السيسي على تدخله الشخصي اللي ساهم في الوصول للتفاهم، ولوزير الخارجية بدر عبد العاطي.
والاتفاق لسه منتظر التوقيع الرسمي واستكمال إجراءاته القانونية.
الخلاصة إن مصر بتحافظ على سيادتها وملكيتها لأراضيها، وفي نفس الوقت بتحافظ على الطابع الديني للدير باعتباره جزءًا أصيلًا من التراث والتاريخ المصري، وواحدًا من أهم المعالم الدينية والأثرية والسياحية المصرية في سيناء، اللي بتشهد على تاريخ مصر الممتد وتنوعها الديني والحضاري عبر القرون.
وده كمان بيعكس عمق العلاقات الطيبة بين مصر واليونان، اللي جذورها ممتدة لآلاف السنين، وقدرة البلدين على حل الملفات المشتركة بالحوار والتفاهم والاحترام المتبادل. 🇬🇷🇪🇬
