18-year old Texas high school football player Aiden Craig tragically died after suffering a medical emergency during a physical fitness test while training to become a U.S. Marine. Craig had recently graduated from Wylie High School, where he was a two-year varsity football player. The defensive end recorded 50 tackles, four sacks, six QB pressures and six tackles for loss during his senior season, earning Second Team All-District honors. Just weeks after graduation, Craig enlisted in the Marine Corps. He was 47 days into recruit training when he suffered the medical emergency on August 1. He was hospitalized and died four days later on August 5. The Marine Corps posthumously awarded him the title of Marine. His family is now honoring his memory by establishing an educational endowment through the Wylie ISD Education Foundation, hoping Aiden’s name and legacy will continue helping students in his community. A school bus carrying 65 children started drifting into oncoming traffic after the driver suddenly lost consciousness. Most of the kids didn’t even realize what was happening at first because they were looking at their phones, playing games or wearing AirPods. But five rows back, 13-year-old Dillon Reeves noticed the driver’s hands drop from the wheel and the bus begin swerving into traffic. He didn’t hesitate. Dillon jumped up, ran to the front, grabbed the steering wheel and slammed on the brake, bringing the 15,000-pound school bus to a stop before it crashed. Then, with terrified kids screaming behind him and the driver still unconscious beside him, Dillon yelled for someone to call 911. All 65 students made it out without a single injury, and the bus driver was treated at the scene and later made a full recovery. That’s the kind of young hero people should know about.

Yesterday evening, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE) Task Force Team conducted a compliance check of registered sex offender, Lloyd Edwards. Edwards was an active parolee and a registered sex offender in the County of Sacramento, after having been convicted for rapes in Chico in 2000, where he was sentenced to three life sentences, plus 51 years. SAFE detectives arrived at his residence and detained him. He was found living with an adult female and her 5-year-old child. A search of his residence revealed multiple substances in violation of Edwards’ parole conditions. SAFE detectives also located a GPS/SPY/Monitor Detector device in the back trunk of Edwards’ vehicle, likely used to evade law enforcement detection. Edwards was arrested and transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail where he was booked into custody. In what world does this make sense to anyone? How can someone convicted of these heinous crimes and sentenced to three life sentences be free at 47-years-old, living in our community? How is this fair to his victims, who can no longer take solace in the fact their assailant is locked up? To add insult to injury, Edwards will likely be back out jail in 5-10 days for this violation. This is not paying your debt to your society. The Board of Parole Hearings continues to operate unchecked, and needs to be held accountable to answer these questions.

She then took pictures as he ran away so police could identify him. And afterward? She went WITH the woman to report what happened. ❤️ Her name is Mary Martin. On Monday afternoon, a 63-year-old woman visiting her son in Philadelphia was walking near 18th and Federal streets. It was around 4:15 p.m. Restaurants were open. People were nearby. Police say a man came up behind her, grabbed her, and groped her. Mary saw what was happening. She yelled at him. The man tried to walk away, and Mary could see how upset the woman was. So she used what she had in her hand. A BIKE HELMET. Mary says she struck him with it as she tried to keep him from leaving the scene. Then she realized she was putting herself in danger. She took pictures of him as he fled, handed them over to detectives, and returned to check on the woman. But here's the part that got me... Mary accompanied her to the Special Victims Unit to make a report. Think about that. This woman was in town visiting her son, then a man grabbed her on the street in the middle of the afternoon. And someone cared enough to step in... and keep helping AFTER the man was gone.
