I certainly saw the TMD post warnings on FB urging people not to treat the 23-27 September period as normal heavy rain and be prepared.
It is true I didn’t see specific guidelines on what being prepared meant though.

I think there are multiple issues at play, but I would argue that the lack of reading leads to the declines in the other two.
If pupils are used to immediate answers and summaries rather than having to digest that info for themselves, then I'd argue this is the result.

I continue to teach crystallography at my university, but the course is optional and like the French team report despite its importance ignored in many curricula in Thailand.
The lack of SC-XRD machines is part of the problem.

We are starting to see this even in academia. I know people now who are retiring early as the level of expectation is completely incommensurate with the support provided.
People have had enough of being treated like machines.

I think that the EU and North America are really in denial here.
Research at it's core is all about money, and while the old powers are reducing their commitments China has forged ahead, with predictable outcomes.

I had a similar thought about Phuket. Away from the tourist spots there are local people living normal lives whether in flatter parts of the interior or on hillsides that the tourists never see.
