"My First Step into GenLayer"
It all started with a simple curiosity. I was browsing the crypto world, still a newbie with a Solana wallet I'd only had for a few months, when a name popped up on my timeline: (
@GenLayer) What made me stop scrolling wasn't just "new blockchain" but a phrase that sounded unfamiliar to me: Intelligent Contracts.
I wondered. I was still slowly learning about smart contracts, and now there was an intelligent version ? My curiosity was kindled like a small flame that didn't know where to start.
I started with their official documentation. Docs:
docs.genlayer.com/ There I found that GenLayer calls itself the first "Intelligent Blockchain," a Layer 1 that replaces traditional smart contracts with ones that can read the internet and understand human language through large-scale language models (MLMs). The contracts are even written in Python, a language familiar to me, as I often play with data.
As a newbie, I was flabbergasted when I read about the consensus mechanism: Optimistic Democracy. Imagine, AI-powered validators being asked to deliberate on subjective decisions, something impossible on a deterministic blockchain like Ethereum. I felt like I was reading science fiction, even though this was real.
Then I got the news that fueled the fire:
@GenLayer had just closed a $7.5M round led by
@NorthIslandVC, with support from
@Arrington_Cap and others. With that much backing, building something that's never existed before, it's understandable that my heart was racing.
I started following their official account and joined their Discord:
discord.gg/p3dnz6AypT on May 20, 2024. There, I heard terms that initially confused me: testnet, faucet, role, points. As a newbie, I didn't understand half of them, but I decided to give it a try.
My first step was the "Asimov Testnet" which launched in mid-2025. I claimed test tokens from the faucet, 100 GEN per claim, every seven days, and completed small missions. It felt like collecting pieces of the future, every step, every task, every interaction in the community, recorded as points on their portal.

I even participated in the "Testnet Bradbury Hackathon" even though I'm not a developer, watching builders compete on smart contracts made me realize, there are three paths here: Builder, Validator, and Community, and I, a newbie, can choose the community path that suits me.
The deeper I delved, the more amazed I became. I discovered that Intelligent Contracts can process unstructured data and resolve disputes using everyday language. Their first application is a product called "Intelligent Oracle," with partners like
@delphibets and
@etherisc.
@GenLayer is also partnering with
@Atoma_Network and
@Gaianet_AI for decentralized AI inference.
I began to understand his grand vision: not just a blockchain, but a trust layer for the AI economy. Contracts that could think, read news, verify claims, and open doors that static code could never open.
Behind the scenes, I learned the team was led by experienced figures like
@EdgarsNemse, a technologist who has worked in the DeFi world and financial institutions. I'm increasingly convinced this isn't a casual project.
I got the role of "Molecule" who helped me get this role was
@Iamolaniyi_ and also helped by
@K1st_Capital @PhcThan24793527 @yantowid1 @il3nnn to trace the tasks that I did not understand, thanks to you I understood and was able to complete the task, now I can get a very valuable lesson from all of you.
At that point, I realized something. The spirit of a newbie isn't about how much I understand, because honestly, there's a lot I'm still swallowing raw. That fire is born from the courage to knock, follow, try, and ask questions, even when often shy.
@GenLayer taught me that in this nascent world, even the earliest, even the greenest, still have a place. Because the future doesn't wait for the smartest. It waits for the most curious.
