On day two of our ongoing regional reflection meeting in Kasese, stakeholders are reviewing a compendium of Uganda’s #NGO laws, among others, to help #NGOs better understand their compliance obligations and enable #Regulators to appreciate their oversight mandate and its scope. Participants are also reflecting on recent policy and legal developments affecting the regulation of #NGOs in #Uganda and what these changes mean for both #NGOs and #Regulators. #NGORegulatoryFramework

In his remarks, the District Internal Security Officer (DISO) of Kasese, Mr. Mohammed Ikaaba, emphasized that #NGOs in Kasese and the Rwenzori region have an obligation to comply with the established regulatory framework, and encouraged that for #NGOs to thrive, they need to fit their roles within existing government structures and align with national development goals. #NGORegulatoryFramework

Justice Benedicto Kiwanuka 9th Memorial Lecture that was held under the theme “ Justice for All : Carrying Forward Ben Kiwanuka’s Vision.” @msekaggya stressed that this year’s theme forces us to confront the unresolved question of what is the cost of Justice? Interpreting this through the lens of time, money and efficient and effective court processes are undisputed answers. Participants highlighted gaps in understanding the regulatory framework, weak coordination, and the need to strengthen trust between NGOs and regulators.
