Microbiologist, aquaponicist, and instructional designer. Learning to do my best. Trying to become the man my dog thinks I am.

Denver, Colorado, Earth, Sol
This morning I woke up early with vertigo, drove to pick up my son from the airport 12 hours early, then returned home to walk my dog in spite of just wanting to crawl into bed. This unedited sunrise reminded me we have much to be grateful for. I hope it works for you, too.

I've repeatedly heard that the Palestinians are victims of Israeli genocide. This is projection. The political and religious leader of the Palestinians met with Adolf Hitler (documented photo below) to “solve the problem of the Jewish elements” 7 years before Israel was born. See Grok for details. x.com/i/grok/share/c4bb63ef7… During the Holocaust, approximately 36% of all living Jews on Earth were exterminated. From late 1948 until 2026, The Arab/Palestinian genocide was approximately negative 1,280%. Media is calling 13x population growth a genocide. x.com/i/grok/share/352823e71… Check the facts before you believe the lies.

Check out what Grok has to say about the thinking ability of jumping spiders—with only about 100,000 neurons—and imagine its biomimicry in the architecture for AI. 🤔x.com/i/grok/share/29daa332b…

AI will (probably) not be monolithic, so a 50% chance of AI raining death and destruction means that half the globe has a 100% chance of serious trouble. Humanity's best shot is to prove we are worth preserving. Which not many are doing. grok.com/imagine/post/ab4a1f…

Trigger alert: Too much ease can cause disease. People who think temperature outside a 5°F range is uncomfortable, press the wheelchair button to open doors for themselves, and only drink bottled water, become so accustomed to ease that hormones can send them over the edge. grok.com/imagine/post/972fe9…

Imagine a Venn diagram with three circles: One is publication bias toward evidence-based studies. Second is research funding geared toward drug trials. Third is medical school bias toward surgical and drug treatments. Smack dab in the overlap are the only highly effective multiple sclerosis and trigeminal neuralgia interventions. Thanks, yet again, to @nutrition_facts for publicising vital information in the blind spot of conventional science. youtu.be/LZuFOS4j7po?si=M5LN…

Fortunately, my vertigo is better. Unfortunately, now I can see my nearly perfect photo is not level. Oddly, when I took the picture, it looked fine. 😂

That's only half the problem. My friend did Army recruitment during the Biden years, but to reach the quota of LGBTQ+, his team had to shift recruitment from southern states to northern cities with much lower interest. THAT required lowering standards. Once the quotas were dropped in 2025, he saw both standards and recruitment rise. I tried teaching in Portland and Denver, but in spite of my doctorate and 17 years of instructional design, I believe (but can't prove) that I was driven away because I was religious and politically moderate. I will bet, if teacher recruitment was not so narrowly biased, both teacher supply and standards would also rise. Just like in the army.
When states address teacher shortages by lowering the bar to become a teacher instead of making teaching a more sustainable and respected profession, we have a HUGE problem.

Elon has created $3 trillion of value with his companies and pays the salaries of 150,000 people. Bernie helped create $36 trillion of debt with his time in Congress and pays the salaries of 0 people. Elon’s wealth is not the problem, Bernie’s communist policies are. Simple.

I have a box of old electronics, cables, and adapters, as do many men. I've never met a woman who understood this. In the hope it contributes to harmony between the sexes, I will explain why this is so: 1. The probability of storing electronic components and adapters a man will need in the future increases with the number of these items stored. 2. The chance of finding a needed item decreases with the number of objects stored based on brain visual processing capacity. 3. Visual processing capacity is enhanced by brain neuroplasticity, particularly when stimulated during childhood's rapid brain-growth stage. 4. Hundreds of hours combing through boxes and tubs of Lego to find a required piece requires intense visual processing during multiple years of rapid brain development. 5. According to Lego company stats, 90% of pre-2010 Lego users are boys (@LEGO_Group began the "Ready for Girls" campaign to address this disparity, but as with the most ambitious social engineering projects, the results are not yet apparent). 6. With their Lego-enhanced visual processing, neurotypical boys can actually find the adaptor or component in a box or tub full of old electronics, while a neurotypical woman sees only clutter in need of disposal. If this explanation enables or saves just one marriage, I have succeeded. grok.com/imagine/post/5d62f5…

SAVE THE RIGHT TO BE TAXED! The corporate tax revenues generated by AI data centers and the many companies increasing profits using AI could discourage income taxes. West Virginia is just the start of a slippery slope. SAVE TAXATION! BAN DATA CENTERS!
West Virginia eyes an AI data center boom to slash the state income tax. Gov. Morrisey proposes directing half of new data center revenue to tax relief, with funds also boosting counties, schools, and infrastructure. ift.tt/NVIQAPM

I would like to thank my secret benefactors for dropping off this picnic basket of money in exchange for a series of posts about the evils of data centers. I have no idea which nation seeks to influence me since the note was not signed. More posts soon. grok.com/imagine/post/8e5fac…

I've had no luck with guns. A Glock was thrown over my backyard fence, but I reported it then the police destroyed it. My dad wanted to give me his old Rugar, but the transfer and mailing fees cost more than the gun. Thankfully, I found a tutorial: instructables.com/Rubber-Ban…

I heard the crazy papermill water use stat in the 1970s, When Danny W did his class presentation on paper mills. Turns out it was unrecycled water consumption, even though the water is recycled. Not that we should let paper mills off the hook: I took an ichthyology course where we went out to a river downstream from a paper mill to sample fish . All of them--hundreds--were female. It's better for data centers, which use closed cooling loops or just replace 100% pure water lost to evaporation cooling. And before you point to increasing power rates, remember that all the major hyperscalers who signed onto the Presidential behest to stand their own power generation behind the meter may actually lower power costs for consumers. For all but one danger of AI data centers, I can give counter arguments. Regarding the chance that they enable AI to end human civilization, you got me there. Not sure how likely that is, but at least it should benefit the environment.

>> Anti data center people are anti human [...] > Another dumb take from a tech bro. This "discussion" is going to shape the future of my kids, so I'm weighing in. With questions: 1. Data centers use tons of precious water, the most limiting element for human life, just for cooling. How does that water get used up when it is completely recirculated, and why is recirculation efficiency not mentioned with the water use statistics? 2. We're told that AI will not destroy jobs, just change them, as happened with previous technology revolutions. OK, how do we shorten the time between old job loss and new job gain, and what do the unemployed do in the meanwhile? 3. In many places, electricity bills are climbing and infrastructure is strained where data centers go in. What was happening to electricity bills and infrastructure strain before the data centers? Could the Trump pledge request for all data centers to stand their own power behind the meter mean that people can now say no just to centers pulling from the existing grid? 4. When all these data centers enable engineered intelligence that matches biological intelligence, and it's going to happen faster than many expect, what happens next? To have a vital conversation about any important issue, maybe take a breath and listen to some Joni Mitchell. youtu.be/hw4Gwzh9Jcc?si=LPsp…
