Farmers are getting hit hard by rising diesel costs at the worst possible time—harvest season. Louisiana, Alabama and Nebraska have already taken temporary action to give farmers and agricultural producers relief by easing restrictions on the use of dyed diesel. As a farmer and former Tennessee Commissioner of Agriculture, I know firsthand what fuel costs mean to a farming operation. Tennessee should take a serious look at providing this same kind of temporary relief for our farmers during harvest. — Charlie Hatcher

It was great to attend the Tennessee Firearms Association’s 2026 Annual Event today and visit with so many Tennesseans who share a commitment to our constitutional freedoms. I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, and in Congress, I will stand firm in protecting the right of law-abiding Americans to keep and bear arms. Our constitutional rights are not negotiable.

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation was forever changed. We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, the heroes who ran toward danger, and the families who have carried that loss for 25 years. September 11 reminded us what courage, service, and sacrifice truly mean. In our nation’s darkest moments, Americans came together. We stood behind those who protect us, cared for our neighbors, and showed the world the strength and resolve of the United States of America. Twenty-five years later, we must never lose sight of those lessons. We owe that to the victims, their families, the heroes who sacrificed everything, and the generations who have followed. May God bless the families who continue to carry the memories of their loved ones. May God bless those who serve and protect our nation. And may God continue to bless the United States of America. I am truly honored and humbled by the incredible gift presented to me by the Lewis County agricultural community. They gifted me a beautiful framed, hand-painted picture recognizing my contributions to Tennessee agriculture. The painting thoughtfully includes so many important parts of my life and career: our Century Farm, FFA, the Tennessee Farm Bureau, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, my favorite John Deere tractor, and our family veterinary practice, Rock N Country Veterinary Services. This painting tells a story of the people, values, and experiences that have shaped me, and I will treasure it for the rest of my life. It means more to me than words can adequately express. I am deeply grateful to the Lewis County Ag community for this thoughtful and humbling gesture, and for their friendship, support, and commitment to Tennessee agriculture. Had a wonderful time last night at the 75th annual Columbia Spring Jubilee, one of the best Tennessee Walking Horse shows in the state. These horses were bred right here in Tennessee and they truly represent the very best of our equine heritage. From the proud breeders and trainers to the dedicated owners and riders, the Walking Horse community is one of our strongest rural traditions. They bring tourism, jobs, and a lot of pride to our communities. I will always fight to protect our agricultural traditions, preserve open spaces, and support the families who keep this legendary breed thriving. It was extra special having my granddaughter Charlie with me. She had a blast learning about the horses and the whole equine world. These are the moments that make it all worthwhile. Enjoyed a great breakfast at Bucky’s this morning to start the day in Columbia. Grabbed lunch at Puckett’s and finished up with a fantastic supper at Jana’s Jumbo House tonight. Got to visit with a lot of good friends in between. It was a full day on the trail talking to folks about the real challenges facing our families and small businesses right now.
