Just been talking to a farmer who is devastated by yesterday’s SFI disaster. 90% of their farm failed to get into SFI due to the calamitous closure of the window after less than 6 hours yesterday. Ministers must come up with an emergency solution today.

Liberal Democrats took more than 3 million people out of paying income tax altogether with the personal allowance. Rewarding hard work and aspiration. Helping the lowest paid the most. 

So we will raise the tax-free personal allowance to £15,000. Taking 2 million more people out of paying tax altogether, and giving most taxpayers a £680 tax cut.

The young carer and adult carer visit was a chance to raise a serious issue. Far too many carers are exhausted and unable to access the support they need to take time away from caring. Taking a break should not be a luxury – it is essential for carers’ health and wellbeing.
