Does Tom Hiddleston know that just by doing what he loves and being happy, he has changed lives, including mine?

By end of play Friday 6th November 2026 the BBC had officially notified bidding production companies if they had been successful in advancing to the final shortlist to produce the next series of Doctor Who 📋
Narrowing a pool of competing companies down to six, who will each be issued detailed production criteria ahead of a formal Tender Briefing on Friday 13th November. It’s believed several high-profile contenders are still in the running. Though their identities and any further details from this point are expected to remain private. Certainly until March 2027, when the winning production company will be chosen. Perhaps longer still.
Any chosen partner will be tasked with producing a multi-episode series and specials slated for transmission in 2028 or 2029. To secure the contract, the winner must pitch a fresh, family-friendly creative vision for Doctor Who’s return to the screen, relying less on past lore, meeting strict 25% off-screen diversity targets, and accommodating the BBC's strong preference to maintain the show's long-standing production base in Wales.
Type 40 will continue to follow any developments. What are your current thoughts on the saga of the tender process? Let us know in the comments! 👇
