Today, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus remembers and honors the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. We remember the families who lost loved ones, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless heroes whose courage and sacrifice carried our nation through one of its darkest days. We will never forget.

TPS for El Salvador expires tomorrow, but there is still time for the President to do the right thing. President Trump must extend the TPS designation for El Salvador.

Tomorrow, Salvadoran TPS expires unless the Department of Homeland Security acts. 170,000 vetted Salvadoran TPS holders—and the 277,000 U.S. citizens, including 150,000 children, who live with them—could see their families torn apart. Proud to stand with @NTPSAlliance, @CARECENLA, @AlianzaAmericas, @NDLON, @FWD_us, SEIU, and @IUPAT. Our message is clear: Renew TPS for El Salvador.

On the House floor today, I demanded answers for Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. ICE shot and killed an unarmed man who wasn’t their target and had no criminal record. It’s unconscionable. His family deserves the truth. The public deserves accountability. We need an independent investigation and justice for the Salgado family.

A major step forward for our community and our country. The Smithsonian has officially designated the Arts and Industries Building as the permanent home of the National Museum of the American Latino. As Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, I’m proud to have fought for the recognition of Latino history, culture, and contributions. ¡Este museo es para todos nosotros!

“Today the Smithsonian Board of Regents chose to house the National Museum of the American Latino in a prominent location on the National Mall. The Arts and Industries Building -- a true jewel -- will shine like never before as the new, permanent home for this great American project," said CHC Chair @RepEspaillat.

Nine-year-old Katherine Bracho and her dad Jesús have been released from the Dilley Trailer Prison! After Texas DPS stopped Jesús at his work and then called ICE, they locked him up. Minutes later, ICE returned to lure Katherine out after intimidating her dad. She gave me a note last week and told me how much she missed her family, friends, and teachers. I am glad she will be able to start school and reunite with her family. Thank you all for using your voices and speaking out against Trump and Governor Abbott's mass deportation machine.

The clock is ticking, Governor Abbott. Alongside @RepGonzalez and the Texas Democratic Delegation, I urge you to immediately sign the extradition papers for ICE agent Christian J. Castro. Mr. Castro faces four counts of second-degree assault and one count of falsely reporting a crime. Without your action, he could be walking free in our communities. You are delaying due process and justice for the victims. This is not an option. It is a constitutional responsibility. Do your duty and sign the papers.
