In B.C if you (Canadians too) own a second property - recreational for example - and you don't rent it out - the BC NDP adds an additional annual tax on you called the speculation and vacancy tax (even though you are not "speculating" - Eby want to increase this as well.
NEW - @Dave_Eby says a re-elected NDP gov would create a new Unsold Condo Tax on finished condos left empty for more than a year. Starting at 2 per cent, increasing 1% every year left vacant.
Also increase the speculation tax a 1% on both Cdn and foreign owners.
