The backdrop right now is off-label mRNA for 6-month-olds.
I just read @RWMaloneMDâs piece on Substack.
Itâs in his title. Heâs mad as hell about CDC steering healthy 6-month-olds toward off-label messenger RNA.
And heâs not the only one.
@MaryBowdenMD and @MaryanneDemasi just ran stories on it.
The irony is older than whatâs happening right now.
I still have the post from when RFK Jr was petitioning the FDA to pull mRNA off the market.
He built an entire campaign around it.
Then became HHS Secretary.
Then he swore in the FDA commissioner, Dr. Marty Makary.
Another man in the movement who built a narrative around mRNA accountability.
So the man who built a campaign on mRNA accountability went from just sending letters to the agencyâŠto swearing in the people who run it and could make that decision.
Thatâs the whole story.
The power changed hands.

Donât get me wrong. Iâm a big RFK Jr. fan.
Thatâs why Iâm disappointed with how this is going.
He asked for the shots to be pulled when he had no power. He has the power now. The product is still here. For 6-month-olds.
We have to be able to speak truth to power even when that power is on our side đ

The Digital Duty of Care Bill is not a safety bill. It is a control bill wearing the language of the vulnerable.

That's not a metaphor I invented. It was the Fabian Societyâs original emblem. Anthony Albanese wrote the lead essay in the very first issue of the Australian Fabians Review.
The line from 1884 to this Prime Minister is not subtle.
âProtect the kidsâ is the costume. The statute underneath is who gets to speak, who gets to publish, and who gets punished for failing the governmentâs idea of care.
This is the picture I get.

The Trump admin, through the U.S. Embassy, has now made it crystal clear.
Washington would consider Laborâs Digital Duty of Care bill as facilitating censorship, on the week they pulled special access from legacy outlets they call propaganda.
But left independent digital voices alone.
Labor is moving the other way, pushing a bill that arguably lands on the platforms where new independent media lives, leaving the legacy media system largely outside of the bills reach.
Washington says the effect wouldnât just stay in Australia and have global consequences on free speech.
That point alone made me think of Fabian gradualism.
Remember how Albanese wrote the lead essay in Issue 1 of the Australian Fabians Review?
Well, now that essayâs author is Prime Minister, pushing a Duty of Care at the digital square, leaving legacy media comparatively exempt, with potential global implications on speech.
If Australia keeps walking this road, I expect more pressure from Washington and from Trump
