Mr Warikoo shared practical insights on financial planning, prudent investment, risk assessment, savings, and long-term financial security. Through relevant examples, he emphasised the importance of developing sound financial habits, understanding investment avenues, and making informed and well-researched financial decisions. The session also highlighted the need to remain vigilant against financial risks associated with fraudulent or unverified investment schemes, Multi-Level Marketing, chain-based businesses, and online gaming. Under the aegis of the Air Force Families Welfare Association (AFFWA), Umeed Vocational Training Centre (VTC) at Subroto Park supports young persons with disabilities through education and vocational training. Under guidance of special educators, trainers and volunteers, it empowers them to build essential life and vocational skills. On 22 Sep 26, furthering AFFWA’s commitment towards philanthropic activities and community welfare, AFFWA (L) HQ TC (U), under the aegis of AFFWA (Regional), HQ TC, organised a donation drive at Vikasa Special School for children with special needs. As a part of the initiative, essential grocery provisions were donated for the benefit of approximately 85 children. Under the aegis of AFFWA (R) South Western Air Command, AFFWA (L) SWAC (U) organised an event at Air Force School Gandhinagar as part of "Hug a Greeting Card Writer Day" encouraging children to express their thoughts and emotions through greeting cards. The cards featured artwork created through the combined efforts of Children with Special Needs (CwSN) and Sanginis of SWAC, with heartfelt messages written by Air Force School children. On the same occasion a stationery shop by our Veer Nari was inaugurated by Mrs Phani Shivanand, President AFFWA (R) SWAC on 18 September. The cards were printed and made available for sale at this shop. The initiative provided an opportunity for self-reliance and entrepreneurship, empowering Veer Naris to pursue sustainable livelihoods. On 09 Sep 2026, AFFWA (L) Highgrounds, Chandigarh, under the aegis of AFFWA (Regional), Western Air Command, organised an insightful talk by Mr Ankur Warikoo, entrepreneur, financial advisor, influencer, and life coach. During an engaging one-hour session, Mr Warikoo encouraged participants to continuously challenge themselves by acquiring new skills and building diverse friendships. AFFWA congratulates the children of Taekwondo classes run by AFFWA (L), Jodhpur, under the aegis of AFFWA (Regional), South Western Air Command, for their outstanding performances. The taekwondoins excelled at the 9th Open Asia Cup Taekwondo Championship held at Goa, and the 5th Official State Level Taekwondo Championship held at Jaipur, winning 23 medals — 10 Gold, 5 Silver, and 8 Bronze. On 25 Aug 2026, AFFWA HQ conducted the AFFWA Declamation Contest 2026 at the Air Force Auditorium, Subroto Park, New Delhi, bringing together 16 participants representing various AFFWA (Regionals). An esteemed panel of six judges evaluated the contestants. The English category was judged by Mrs Nandita Mukerji, Author Sherry, and Mr Neelesh Kulkarni, while the Hindi category was judged by Sr Prof (Dr) Niranjan Kumar, Prof Punam Kumari, and Dr Vibhavari. With participants displaying remarkable confidence, clarity, and conviction, selecting the winners proved to be a challenging task for the judges. In the English category, Master Redhaan Thakurdas from AFFWA (R) CAC was declared Runner-up, while Master Lakshya Vats from AFFWA (R) SWAC emerged as the Winner. In the Hindi category, Miss Shipra Tripathi from AFFWA (L) ASTE, Air HQs was declared Runner-up, while Master Chirag Janmeda from AFFWA (R) WAC emerged as the Winner. On 21 Aug 26, AFFWA (Regional), Western Air Command, conducted a webinar on Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM), bringing together over 2,000+ Students, Teachers, Principals and Parents from across the WAC AoR. Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan, a prestigious national level initiative aims to identify, encourage and nurture scientific talent among students of Classes VI-XI. The webinar provided participants with an overview of the examination pattern, registration process, learning opportunities and avenues for recognition available through the programme. A motivational talk by Dr Ravinder Singh, DG (R&M), DRDO, inspired young minds to foster curiosity, innovation and a spirit of scientific research. He also encouraged students to draw inspiration from India’s rich scientific heritage and the remarkable contributions of Indian scientists. Further, Shri Naresh Chafekar, National Outreach Coordinator, VVM, elaborated on the objectives, key features and examination framework of the programme, besides highlighting the learning opportunities, enriching experiences and avenues for recognition available to young learners through VVM. AFFWA (Regional), Headquarters South Western Air Command, initiated AFFWA Life Membership Awareness Drive. The drive was led by Mrs Phani Shivanand, President AFFWA (R) SWAC, along with President AFFWA (L) SWAC (U), through a ‘door-to-door’ outreach campaign. The initiative focused on personally engaging with members and families and sensitising them and creating awareness about the benefits of AFFWA Life Membership. Complementing the initiative, a Nukkad Natak was also organised at AFFWA (L) SWAC (U) as an engaging medium to spread awareness on issues relevant to the community. The street play highlighted topics such as AI awareness by Air Force School children, the importance of AFFWA subscription and Life Membership and the inclusion of special children by Sanginis through a blend of storytelling, dialogue and impactful performance.
