The fact that Larry Nassar, a serial rapist, was taken off the sex offenders registry in Michigan should make you sick.
The registry had 43,000 registrants total. More than 20,000 rapists, abusers, and pedophiles were removed. That's almost half. Skewed statistics.
Larry Nassar was the team doctor for the U.S. women's gymnastics team from 1996 to 2014, and the team physician at Michigan State University until 2016 ... where he used his position to sexually assault hundreds of athletes. Angelenos have lost faith in the capacity of the city to spend their tax dollars wisely. To restore the public’s trust, we must reduce liability expenses, audit homelessness spending, repair broken infrastructure, and deliver on basic city services.
We also need to bring back business investment.
In 2019, DTLA was responsible for 40% of LA’s hotel, sales, and business taxes, despite being only 1.4% of the city’s land area.
Six years later, 1/3 of DTLA office space is vacant.
We must invest in making DTLA safe, clean and vibrant so that businesses invest again.
