Far too many people believe the myth that the US spends more on defense than social insurance.
Talked to a 6’2” white guy business major at George Mason University about politics and he was really mad about Israel, the Iran War, Elon/tech billionaires, Flock cameras, and high taxes. Said (paraphrasing): “if we were a social democracy like Sweden I’d get it, but paying all these taxes for forever wars? I hate it.”
Yes I’m aware this sounds like a “then everyone clapped” Friedmanism but it really did happen. D+17 midterms.
