He married her by telephone on Sunday. The regime hanged him at dawn on Monday.
Alireza Sepahi, born in 2001, was seized after rising up against the regime in January. Alireza Raeisi was killed beside him at Dastgerd in Isfahan. Both were among those the regime accused in what it calls the Alikhani Square case.
Sepahi’s wife, Mahshad Kashani, is held in a regime prison herself. The marriage was conducted over a phone line by a human rights lawyer.
1,064 Iranians recorded hanged by the regime in 2026, per
IranRights.org, as of 6 October. The count covers only killings that followed what the Center calls formal proceedings. Deaths in regime detention and killings by security forces are not in it. The real figure is higher, and it is higher because the regime conceals it.

🔴The death sentence of Alireza Sepahi, born in 2001 and a detainee of the January 2026 protests, was carried out at dawn on Monday, October 5, 2026, in Isfahan’s Dastgerd Prison. He was one of the defendants in the case known as the "Alikhani Square of Isfahan" and had been arrested on January 10, 2026.
🔸The judicial proceedings against Alireza Sepahi were marred by severe due process violations, including effective denial of access to a legal counsel, failure to provide a copy of the verdict, holding court sessions via video conference, and ignoring defense evidence. A source close to the family stated that CCTV footage and other documents existed showing that Alireza Sepahi was not present at Alikhani Square at the time of the incident cited in the case. Nevertheless, Judge Morteza Barati had sentenced him to four death sentences.
🔸Additionally, a number of other defendants in the case stated that they were subjected to pressure and torture during interrogations to force them to confirm Alireza Sepahi's presence at the scene. To date, no independent or effective investigation has been conducted into these allegations or the manner in which statements were extracted.
