👣 IOTA Audit Trails: because trust in business records shouldn't depend on who controls the database. Today we're launching a new open-source solution that lets any authorized party verify the full history of a workflow, without gatekeepers, intermediaries, or blind faith. 🧵⤵️

When the UK tested whether ordinary commercial shipping data could stand in for customs paperwork, it covered 80% of the minimum data customs risk checks require. The information was already being produced by the supply chain. It was not reaching the people making the decision.

When a trade document turns out to be false, the loss rarely lands on whoever wrote it. It lands on the party that accepted it, often months later, in a different country, with no way to go back. Which is why the document is worth less than the question of who stood behind it.

Collateral is easier to lend against when it stays still. A warehouse can be inspected. A cargo halfway across an ocean is proven by documents, held by different parties, in different countries, on different systems. The goods are real either way. What changes is how much of that a funder can confirm.

A $2bn lawsuit is a dramatic reminder of how much rides on the integrity of trade documentation. Trade fraud exploits information gaps: unverifiable documents, disputed records, counterparties who can't be held to what they claimed. Verified trade data is how IOTA answers a very expensive problem. ft.com/content/350df9ff-fa41…

Sign your next @IOTA txn with absolute confidence 💪 Our latest update, V-3.1.0, brings transaction parsing so you can verify transfer and staking details right on your Keystone screen. See "Unknown Transaction"? You still get the raw data right on screen to verify what you're signing. Update your Keystone now, sync with @Nightly_app, and sign with clarity. Share this with iota:native maxis in your circle.

An invoice is a claim about a trade, written by one side of it. Around $1.6 trillion moves through trade-based money laundering each year, and 63% of it runs on manipulated invoices. A lender reading that document on its own is reading the seller's version of events. A second signature, from a party with nothing to gain, changes what the document is.

On stage at @ETHTaipei today - @kowei1995 on private vs. public chains, and the key decision axes for institutions.
Great panel at @ETHTaipei with @0xteagan (@CantonNetwork) — thanks for the invite from @martinetlee My take, speaking for @iota: institutions don't adopt chains because of TPS. They adopt chains they can trust. That means a non-profit foundation and on-chain privacy that doesn't leak their counterparties.

A container can cross a country in a day, then wait at the port while its documents are confirmed one party at a time. When the proof is recorded at source, it reaches the other end before the cargo does. A lender reading it can act while the goods are still moving. IOTA is the layer that proof runs on.

A funder can hold a signed invoice for a shipment that was never loaded. A bill of lading is meant to prove otherwise, and it can be issued for cargo nobody has seen. Without the shipment, the funder is lending unsecured and does not know it.

Digital trade facilitation reforms could cut global trade costs by up to 14%, according to the UN's global survey. Most of that is one country agreeing to accept a certificate another country already issued. Same ships, same roads. Fewer days between a cargo leaving and a payment clearing.

Trades get queried months after settlement, by parties who were not there and cannot call anyone who was. A record that only holds up while someone can vouch for it is no use to them. What holds up is a history nobody could revise.

The cargo is loaded. The buyer is confirmed. The financing does not arrive. Across Africa, that adds up to around $100 billion a year. What a lender can verify, a lender can price. Proof is what changes the answer.

Trade infrastructure gets noticed when it fails. A shipment stuck at the border, a document that will not clear. The rest of the time it works quietly, and leaves a record behind. That record is what a lender reads before deciding to fund the shipment.

Global trade flows passed $35 trillion in 2025, according to UNCTAD. There is still no shared record underneath it, because no party will rely on one another party controls. Neutral infrastructure is what makes that objection go away.

A line of trucks at a border is a queue waiting on paperwork. Each consignment gets checked on its own, by parties who cannot see the same record, one at a time. Wider roads only move that queue further down the line. More doesn't mean scalable. Verifying the data once does.

FM Speaker Highlight: @kowei1995 Kowei Tseng went from trapping ions in a quantum lab to building public-chain ecosystems across Asia. After completing a PhD in quantum physics at NUS, he joined @iota as Asia Ecosystem Lead, where he has spent the past three years growing IOTA's APAC presence and Chinese-speaking community from Singapore. We can't wait to welcome him to the FM26 stage. Two lenders can finance the same trade without either one knowing. Each sees paperwork that looks complete. Neither can see the other's books. On shared infrastructure a trade has one record, and a lender can check whether it has already been used as security.
