VPM1002 did show protection against extrapulmonary TB, with 50.4% efficacy. But the findings also highlight how TB vaccine outcomes can vary across age, nutrition and disease forms. As @MBHRishabh writes, vaccines do not enter β€œempty landscapes”—they enter specific ecologies of risk. What does this mean for India’s TB elimination efforts? Beyond vaccine development, nutrition, living conditions, contact tracing, preventive treatment and stronger public-health systems remain crucial.
