Once again, this Mayor is shoehorning his political agenda into a place it doesn't belong.
A celebration of Italian Heritage shouldn't focus on an avowed socialist when there are so, so many incredible Italian Americans he could have spoken of that wouldn't have been divisive in any way. But for this mayor, it's all about political theater.
Unbelievable.
Happy Italian Heritage Month, New York.
Here’s continuing to fight for Vito Marcantonio’s vision of a government that works for all working people.

From Arthur Avenue to Bensonhurst, Italian Americans from across the five boroughs came to City Hall last night to celebrate Italian American Heritage Month!
We honored two Italian New Yorkers: @rosannascotto, a celebrated journalist, co-host of Good Day New York, five-time Emmy winner, and FOX 5 fixture since 1986.
And @chazzpalminteri, a proud actor from the Bronx who went on to receive an Oscar nomination for "Bullets Over Broadway” and wrote + directed a Bronx Tale!
Thank you to the Piccolo Coro dell'Antoniano for your beautiful music!

@NYCMayor …Little Italy might not have made your immigrant map, but the Giglio is still dancing in the streets of Williamsburg every July.
1,600-year-old tradition from Nola, kept alive by Brooklyn’s Italian community for nearly 140 years. Food, music, zeppoles, and that epic Night Lift on July 15.
This is what real New York looks like.

Italians built this city @NYCMayor and we won’t let you forget it.
Councilwoman Joann Ariola (R-Queens) said snubbing Little Italy, which was established in the late 19th century, was a major flub.
“And what about areas like Woodlawn, in the Bronx, which are home to plenty of Irish immigrants? Do the Irish and Italians not count for the Mayor’s office”

She's been called the most beautiful ship in the world, and today, the Amerigo Vespucci sails into New York Harbor for our nation's 250th birthday. Named for the Italian explorer who gave America its name, she belongs right here. Happy Fourth of July to all! 🇺🇸🇮🇹 #America250
