We had our last kid 9 years ago. Wife and I thought we were done then. The Good Lord has a sense or humor / other plans for us.
2 weeks ago today we welcomed our 6th child, our 4th girl.
While people kept asking us “how ready are you?” my response was always “5 other kids ready”
It’s been long enough since the last one that I forgot about the sleepless nights 😅 or my wife recovering from it.
It’s crazy to think that that this child has the potential to live in the year 2100, of course if Biden doesn’t ruin it & humanity gets to make it that far.
Anyways, been up all night hoping to give my wife a break- and I’m looking at this little squish and realize that now I can’t picture my life without her and just 9 months ago I wasn’t that excited about our life shaking up a little bit, or having to buy diapers again. Looking at her now I come to realize how selfish I was to even think that. How blessed we are that the Good Lord has trusted us with this life.

All this hype about omarchy really gets me, wondering how easy it is to get technical people to install shit without really understanding it.
From what I gather, ARM has the most difficulty setting up. Common sense tells me that if that’s the case, people who couldn’t even set up an ARM system wouldn’t fully understand what they’re doing or whether what they’re setting up is even safe to begin with.
All that said, I’m pretty sure I want to set it up on an old IBM laptop.
Anybody know what the security landscape on it is?

serious question, at this point why not simply cancel the ipo’s & nationalize the labs?
theoretically nationalization would solve some of the incentive problems immediately. the us treasury becomes the only shareholder. the govt can coordinate compute, model releases, security standards, & pacing without asking rival firms to collude.
you could theoretically put openai, anthropic, & eventually other designated frontier labs under something analogous to a federally owned strategic technology corporation, with the president appointing the board rather than literally having sam & dario file weekly tps reports to the oval office.

With Thinking Mode, I was happy enough with the responses (yes I’m a man that’s very hard to please)
