What Hamas and Gazans did on Oct 7, 2023 to innocents in Israel was the ultimate display of evil. They did not attack military targets. They tortured, raped, kidnapped, and murdered innocent civilians in the streets, in their homes, and at a concert. They forced families, including children, to watch them commit these atrocities against their parents and siblings, and then they murdered them after to tie off the horror. Anyone that sides with them is unspeakably evil. Never forget who our enemies are, especially when they video themselves committing atrocities and cheer in the streets at their work.

This was Gaza three years ago on October 7. Palestinians were kissing the floor with joy as Hamas paraded dead Jews through the streets. Remember this the next time you see someone call them the victims.

1984. I was 14. I fell off my bicycle under a tractor-trailer and a set of dual wheels ran over me. I was unconscious at the scene. I was bleeding from two places at once: the crushed left half of my pelvis, into the pelvis and retroperitoneum, and a torn dural sinus from a depressed skull fracture. Blood pressure kept falling. They transfused me in the trauma unit, transfused me again through the CT, and a hematologist kept blood and blood products coming through the ICU days. The rest of the list: fracture at C2–3. Complex fracture-dislocation of the left hemipelvis. Broken left femur. Broken medial condyle of the left elbow, and ulnar nerve damage in that arm. Compartment syndrome in the left thigh and leg, cut open to save the muscle. Sciatic and peroneal paralysis on the left leg. Right foot crushed badly enough to lose skin, and it healed as a scar. They put a Hoffmann frame on the pelvis. That is the trauma. The apathy came later, after the pelvis had set wrong and one leg was short. On a 5’8” frame I got to about 249 pounds. Sitting had become the reasonable choice. This year I stopped treating 1984 as a reason to disappear. High protein, an eating window, and regular strength training with machines at the gym. About 140 now. Body fat near 15 percent. The pelvis is still deformed. The leg is still short. The foot drop did not get better. What got better was my attitude and drive.
