weird to think I'm still alive and Ive made it this far especially living with cancer but I'm not stopping, I'm not slowing down, this is a special year knowing where I was a decade ago and I'm going to try to live it to the fullest and be thankful daily
developed the drug and trial that saved me, my family and friends from the beginning that saw the hell and rock bottom of those years
To my advocacy friends who have become more than that thank you for supporting me endlessly and always lifting me up
39 is weird to say it's
later alive and living to help others as well as for myself an I wouldn't believe you in a million years if you would of told me then what my life would turn out like
I'm thankful and full of appreciation to my doctors all of them from across the state, the researchers that
of a drug we knew wasn't working just to prove I tried it so I could qualify for a clinical trial. The cancer was growing I was losing and my only wish at age 29 on my birthday was to see age 30 so I could have a year to make memories and tell people bye.
I'm here today 9 years
Today is my birthday. Birthdays have never been a huge day for me, to be honest there are always complicated feelings on this day, but today this year I sit here with a feeling of thankfulness, appreciation an disbelief
I remember this day in 2016 I was facing the 3rd infusion
perspective what cancer patients and especially long term cancer patients live with and how it impacts all areas of life between the appointments and especially the time spent there
575 medical appointments not counting the overnight hospital stays, or about 1 appointment every 7 days for 11 years. You can do the math when each appointment takes between 2-10 hours how much time Ive spent
This isn't complaining or anything this is just facts and to put into
and everything else like
Sitting in waiting rooms
Waiting on blood work results
Waiting on treatment to be made
Waiting to be seen
Filling out countless forms and surveys
Then actually seeing the medical professional
In 11+ years I've been a cancer patient I've had around
Another day another trip to the cancer center for yet another appointment, sometimes it feels like a never ending ride. Most people that havent experienced this don't understand what is cancer patients deal with in the amount of time we spend going to and from appointments
