This is one of those stories that makes the absurdity of gerrymandering impossible to ignore. Kaptur's district is known to those following along as the "snake on a lake" because it was so long and narrow, encapsulating how absurd gerrymandered districts truly are. The district is featured in our explainer chapter of Draw the Line in Ohio of how to spot blatant gerrymandering.
In an election cycle that has devolved into a state-by-state gerrymandering war, Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) stands as probably the most battle-hardened veteran.
