Chair @BHGreens | teacher of history and critical thinking | he/him | One must imagine Sisyphus happy

Time for me to check out of here. Thanks to everyone who made this website a space where, for a time, elites were exposed and new ideas flourished. I guess that's why it had to be taken over by a man-child and enshittified along with the rest of the Internet. Take care x

Andrew Tate took part in a sexualised video with a child, UK prosecutors have claimed. He is accused of creating or sharing several indecent images of a child, including dozens of “Category A” videos – the highest risk level. 🔗:telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

A dangerous line.” Tony Blair responds to the party’s “Zionism is Racism” motion and what it means for British politics and the future of the Middle East. the scottish green party are in favour of the united kingdom being abolished
The Green Party has never called for any other existing state to be abolished, just the world’s only Jewish one. Extremism in action.

One of the most crucial questions, that a UK activist who genuinely supports Palestinian Liberation, justice and human rights, can ask themselves is the following: Is what I am doing, or does what I am proposing, adhere to the Palestinian request that we be strategic and tactical in our advocacy so as to make tangible gains in support of Palestinian rights.

The next question, specifically in the context of this Green Party motion on Zionism is Racism, shouldn't be whether it is ideologically or academically sound - I've said already I agree with most of the motion text - but rather whether it is strategically the best thing to have brought forward, whether it is thought through properly and tactical, and whether it does anything tangible for furthering Palestinian Liberation, justice and human rights... Or is it simply a massive statement of look at what we did... we made the Green Party officially anti-Zionist and got them to declare Zionism is a form of Racism... look at how great we are and look at us doing Palestine solidarity...

The Left debate over ZiR just feels like a furious relitigation of the arguments about the Corbyn project's response to antisemitism allegations, as opposed to any serious attempt to grapple with how to influence the current national discourse around Palestinian rights

Stuff like this is just a recipe for the Greens and the wider left tearing itself apart forever. Our job is to build a political movement capable of making a genuine contribution to the liberation of Palestinians - not chasing likes and calling each other names.
The Greens historic motion for Palestinian liberation has provided a moment of deep clarity Remember those who opposed it Remember, too, those who sat it out—or called it a “distraction” The lines are drawn. No way back for any of them

The fundamental problem with the 'Zionism is Racism' motion is that it transforms a debate about the concrete reality of the suffering of Palestinians - a debate the left has been winning - into an abstract debate about ideology. Strategically inept in my view.

That includes the literal leader of the Green Party! Nobody who speaks like this is interested in building a left-wing majority for transformative change. They're only interested in settling scores on the left, on driving out traitors, and embracing righteous irrelevance.

Something which makes me suspicious: People who are hyper-realist on some foreign policy issues and hyper-idealist on others. E.g thinking both 1) In the interests of peace, Ukraine should come to some compromise settlement with Russia, whether or not all their sovereign territory is returned (hyper-realist) and 2) The only acceptable outcome in the Middle East is a single secular Palestinian state where jews and Palestinians live peacefully side-by-side (hyper-idealist).

Identities are complicated and contradictory. They don’t need to “make sense”. There are millions of people who identify as “Zionist”, often in very pragmatic ways. They believe that Jews should have a homeland in the Land of Israel, period. This does not make them “racist”.

My view on the debate on Zionism is Racism is this, it wasn't a debate where either side engaged in the other's arguments. Against argued on the strategy and implications, For on the politics. The For side totally ignored the arguments put to them & I don't think that's helpful

Three by-elections in a year. Three wins from Labour. Three huge swings. And all in the city’s two Labour-held constituencies. Snap election? Bring it on.
