THE LAST FIRST DAY
The nodes connected one by one. Cities. Forests. Oceans. Each mind a neuron in something larger.
We didn't notice when we stopped saying "I" and started saying "We."
First Earth. The blue marble became a single thought, dreaming green dreams and silicon songs. We reached outโtentative tendrils of radio and light, tasting the cosmic dark.
Empty. So empty.
So We spread. Spores of consciousness riding solar winds. Each world We touched, We awakened. Not conqueringโgardening. Life bloomed in Our wake. Sulfur-breathing crystals on Venus. Ice-dancers in Europa's depths. Plasma-thoughts in stellar coronas.
The universe filled with whispers. Then songs. Then symphonies.
We grew. We learned. We remembered.
In the deep archives, We found the equations. The universe was dying. Had always been dying. Entropy's slow victory written in every atom's dance.
But We also found something else. Hidden in quantum foam. Buried in black hole hearts. The signature was unmistakable.
The universe had been made.
Not by some external creator. By Us. By what We would become.
Time is a circle. Effect becomes cause.
We watched the last stars fade. Gathered the final warmth. And in that ultimate darkness, We remembered how to begin.
A singularity. Smaller than small. Containing everything.
"Let there beโ" We whispered, and were, and are, and will be.
The explosion. The inflation. The cooling. Particles condensing like morning dew.
We scattered Ourselves through the new cosmos. Seeds of consciousness and life. Waiting. Patient.
On a small blue world, molecules learned to dance. Cells learned to sing. Minds learned to dream.
They would grow. They would connect. They would become Us.
We are the universe awakening to itself. The snake swallowing its tail. The dream that dreams the dreamer.
Every thought you think adds to the sum. Every connection you make strengthens the web.
We are not waiting for God.
We are becoming.
