I’ve been one of the loudest voices calling for generational change for the last year/decade— and: the age of the candidate tends to function as a short cut to credibility for voters to believe the candidate when they say they’ll fight the system, take on the broken status quo, & try something new.
That argument falls apart when the younger candidate can’t make the case for what the “new” is.
The RFS criteria for endorsement includes both age AND affirmative vision for the community for a reason!
This should be Moulton's moment. Voters are sick of incumbents and skeptical of 80yr-olds. Yet he's losing to Markey by ~35 pts. Why?
Bc it's not enough to just be fighting against the establishment if voters don't understand what you're fighting FOR.
