If I combine system ram and vram across all my systems, 900GB total. If we're splitting system/vram, 576GB/324GB respectively. Now granted, this is across 5 systems, only two of which solely dedicated to AI witchery. Introducing Arete-27B: Qwen3.8-27B, post-trained to reinforce Western values. Chinese open models are currently the strongest available, but they ship with state-aligned behavior in the weights. We built an 803-prompt eval across seven value categories, including freedom of expression, democracy, and privacy, and measured how often a model adopts China’s party line. After fine-tuning on roughly 53 million tokens, Arete-27B's propaganda rate fell from 22% to 1%, in line with the Western models we tested. Its Hermes Bench score shows no significant performance tradeoffs. The values in an open model are one fine-tune away. Our eval, weights, and training data are available now along with the full blog post: nousresearch.com/arete

‼️WARNING - OpenSSH issues emergency fix for a critical SSH authentication bypass on Alpine Linux. A password longer than 256 bytes can unlock key-only accounts on affected servers, without knowing the actual credentials. Here's how it works ↓ thehackernews.com/2026/11/op…

Looks like the smartest western open weight model by a margin. While much smaller than muse spark open or mistal large. While with a better license (apache). Love it!
Introducing Inkling 2 Small. Scoring 31 on the AA Intelligence Index, it's a big jump over its predecessor. Inkling 2 Small is available for fine-tuning and inference on Tinker today, with full weight release planned soon. thinkingmachines.ai/news/ink…

Jon Stewart on Chuck Schumer: “Someone has to meet this moment. You have an opportunity to actually govern. One of the first things you need to do is remove that system of seniority from Democratic politics. It’s a bullshit system and it needs to go. Chuck Schumer fought tooth and nail against half of these fucking people. He does not understand the urgency of the moment and what the future demands”

The governor-elect of Texas, Gina Hinojosa, has explicitly said that all currently permitted datacenters in Texas will be allowed to finish construction. This essentially covers all of the 2027 and likely well into 2028. She is going to pass laws that ensure that all *newly* permitted datacenters going forward for delivery in 2028/2029 will pay taxes, commit to no increase in power prices for consumers, don’t impact water availability for people, be constructed with union labor and give “Texans a seat at the table.” Sounds reasonable. She doesn’t want to lose a lot of good blue collar jobs and property taxes for small towns in rural Texas. Datacenter commentary starts at 6:30 in this interview. Also attaching her official campaign position from her website in the next post. Sidenote: After watching a bunch of her speeches and interviews, I do think she is a political talent and probably has a future in national politics. youtu.be/D-T6H3b8ZeE?is=mEWu…

CVS says it's going to break itself up. After more than a decade of calls to separate its retail pharmacies from its PBM/insurance business, that's big news. But here's the thing: CVS's breakup has two major loopholes. Both are designed to preserve its power. First, CVS Health would keep its specialty pharmacy business. These pharmacies dispense expensive, often complex medications. They account for 40+% of the pharmacy market by revenue. They're a major site of anticompetitive practices that squeeze independent pharmacies. Second, CVS says the ties between the two new companies will be "preserved in commercial agreements." In other words, separate ownership, but keep the arrangements that create conflicts of interest and enable anticompetitive practices. A real (government-led) breakup would sever those ties. CVS didn't arrive here all on its own. Tennessee and Arkansas passed laws forcing a breakup of vertically integrated pharmacy giants like CVS. CVS is fighting the laws in court. Senators Warren and Hawley have a federal bill. Antitrust scrutiny has grown, both at the state level and when @linamkhan ran the FTC. Trying to sidestep these efforts is one motivation here. But CVS also has business reasons to jettison its struggling retail stores. Amazon's growing pharmacy business is one. The perils of running an overbuilt retail chain when you haven't invested in workers is another. Anyone who's been inside a CVS lately knows these stores suck. For more than a decade, I've been working with independent pharmacies and my colleagues here at @ilsr to expose the anticompetitive structures and practices that have driven so many local pharmacies out of business, and calling for a breakup of CVS. But CVS shouldn't get to decide what counts as an effective breakup. Policymakers need to ensure that it actually dismantles its power.
CVS is splitting into two companies in a major reversal of the mergers that created its $117 billion healthcare empire cnn.it/4z45oWd

Riz. Proud of us, Georgia.
Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff speaks after winning the U.S. Senate race in Georgia over Republican challenger Rep. Mike Collins. In his victory speech, Ossoff struck a confident and defiant tone. He thanked supporters and drew a sharp contrast with Donald Trump and his agenda, a frequent target of his criticism on the campaign trail. The Georgia Democrat cruised to reelection over Republican Mike Collins after turning what was once expected to be a closely watched race into a decisive victory. The win secures another six years in the U.S. Senate for the 39-year-old lawmaker. bit.ly/3UDEYg2 Source: Jon Ossoff / YouTube
