This is my nan. This photo was her 16th birthday present and taken in 1934. This was a very, very big thing for her. Her family had no money whatsoever.
She lived in London throughout WWII, enduring the blitz, had a family, faced some incredibly tough times that most of us can't even begin to comprehend & yet managed to stay level-headed, optimistic &, most of all, incredibly kind throughout her entire life.
She and I were very close. We lost her 12 years ago today at the ripe old age of 97. Yet there is not a day that goes by where we don't talk about her in some way.
She never made money, but she had the love, respect and admiration of all who knew her. She was never short of visitors in her last years; she was someone you just wanted to be around as much as possible.
THAT's how you create a lasting legacy.
Thank you for showing us how it's done, nan!
