Another great memory from the Dome-coming night: Sean Payton cooked up this crazy idea to have a red-carpet entrance for the Saints players at the front of the Dome that night. Some routine-oriented players like Drew Brees and Steve Gleason preferred to avoid the hoopla and just stuck to the normal player entrance. But a lot of players tried it out. It was a wild scene as players pulled up to the valet and entered the stadium with fans lined five-deep along the security fences. I interviewed Joe Horn as he made his way into the building and to the locker room. Joe being Joe, he boasted about what the Saints planned to do that night, essentially saying that the Falcons had no chance. This was before Twitter so Horn's comments weren't made public until after the game, but, needless to say, Payton, when he learned about it later, wasn't thrilled with his star receiver trash-talking the opponent BEFORE the game. Alas, the red carpet idea was one-and-done, for several reasons. But I've always wanted to see it reprised, especially for big games.

My enduring memory of Dome-coming night, other than Steve’s play, was the Super Bowl-worthy pregame musical performance by U2 & Green Day: “When September Ends,” “The Saints Are Coming,” & “Beautiful Day.” You don’t have to be a Rhodes Scholar to appreciate that symbolic message.

20 years ago today, one of the great moments in sports history occurred at the Superdome. @SteveGleason was the right person at the right time to make the iconic play. None of us who were there will ever forget it.

The Saints have got something in Tyler Shough. For the second straight week, he leads a monster second half comeback. This time, though, it results in a win, as the Saints stun the Ravens 24-17 in Baltimore.

To cap off the troll job, the Ole Miss band just played “Neck.”
