Today, we mourn the passing of one of the most influential figures in the history of the American Baseball Coaches Association and amateur baseball. Dave Keilitz devoted more than six decades to serving the game as a player, coach, athletic director, ABCA Executive Director, mentor and friend. His vision transformed the ABCA, strengthened baseball at every level and impacted generations of coaches and student-athletes. More importantly, Dave made everyone around him feel valued. His kindness, integrity and unwavering commitment to others will be remembered just as much as his extraordinary accomplishments. We invite you to join us in celebrating Dave's remarkable life and legacy by reading our tribute. Please keep the Keilitz family in your thoughts and prayers. abca.org/ABCA/News/2026/In_M…

HS Baseball Players ⚾️ I’ve been around this game a long time, and something’s changed... We’re losing respect for the game. • Chirping after every pitch. • Celebrating routine plays like it’s Game 7 • Trying to embarrass opponents instead of beating them. That’s not toughness. That’s insecurity. 💯 Somewhere along the way, being loud became more important than being good. And the worst part? It’s being allowed. When I came up… • You showed up early. • You handled your business. • You played hard. • You shut your mouth. • If you had something to say… you said it with performance. • And if lines were ever crossed, the players took care of it. The truth: 👇 • Baseball is hard. • You’re going to fail. • You’re going to struggle. • The game doesn’t need more noise… • It needs more respect. • Nobody remembers who chirped. • They remember who showed up. • Who competed. • Who handled adversity. • Who left the game better than they found it. Want to separate yourself? Stop talking. Start working. Respect the game. 💯⚾️

You can be a great kid and awful teammate. How is this possible? Selfishness. Selfish players don't care if the team wins or loses, they only care about how they played. Selfish players don't care enough about their teammates to call them out. Selfish players don't care enough about their teammates to hold them accountable. Selfish players think they're more important than the team. Selfish players usually have parents that think their kid is more important than the team. Selfish players destroy teams.

Ok, I’ll preface this take with 2 things: 1. I am old school and 2. I really like Naylor. Usually plays the game hard. But, giving up after a strikeout, especially when the ball rolled away from the catcher, is not a good look and shouldn’t be tolerated by Lovullo.

A HUGE congratulations to Coach Williams, all the Assistant coaches, and a great group of young men who had to fight and scrap through 2 tough extra playoff games to get to the championship game!!

Hard to earn a playoff berth when you lose to a team who most AAA teams would consistently beat.

Love this!
On Senior Night, every senior got one final at-bat with their dad throwing the pitch. As they rounded the bases, a letter from their parents was read over the speakers — and waiting at home plate was their mom 🥹 (via heyhannahgoetz/TT)

I hope some Dads read this. There’s nothing wrong with wanting your son, or grandson, to play baseball, or any other sport in college, but make sure it’s their dream, not yours. Just enjoy watching them play. You’ll miss it when they’re done playing.
No longer a baseball dad. Those were fun years. I'll leave you with this thought heading into the weekend. If you love baseball, maybe recalibrate your goals for your kid, from, "I hope he can play in college" to something like "I hope he loves baseball as much at 61 as I do."

Centennial High School baseball has become one of Arizona’s top programs under manager Jon Williams, who has embraced sabermetrics and a unique approach that is new to high school baseball. Our Jack Barron has the story: cronkitenews.azpbs.org/2025/…

So, any NLF draft “experts” still have Cam Skattebo as a 5th round pick?

Just awful decision by either Lovullo or McCarthy in top of 10 to not run. They weren’t going to throw to 2nd with Carroll on 3rd. We should be up 2 rather than 1 entering bottom 10.
