IMO, people need to start to think of ALGO as a commodity rather than stock. Good way to think of $ALGO is looking at it as oil. The majority of us think about the oil usage only when we are the pump, yet oil is used to produce so many other things. DeFi and RWA projects are/will use $ALGO for tx fees, but most of us are not thinking about even greater usage of $ALGO = creation/maintenance of wallets, NFTs, ASAs, NFDs and SCc. And just like oil, there is a finate supply of ALGO. So my theory (NFA) and why I'm hording $ALGO is due to the fact that I'm seeing it as an 'lubricant' of the future. The patent application is titled: “Systems and Methods for Blockchain-Based Secure Multiparty Computation.” Applicants: → Florida International University → The United States of America, represented by the Secretary of the Air Force The invention was developed with government support under an award from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). So what exactly is being built? The focus is Secure Multiparty Computation (MPC). MPC allows multiple parties to jointly compute a function using private inputs without revealing those inputs to each other. That has obvious implications for environments where privacy and secure collaboration matter. And this is where @Algorand enters the architecture. The patent explicitly states that MPC can operate over the Algorand blockchain. Messages from MPC participants can be packed into Algorand transactions and transmitted efficiently between parties using Algorand’s gossip protocol. Why use a blockchain for MPC communication? Traditional peer-to-peer MPC communication can become increasingly complex as more parties participate. The patent describes using blockchain infrastructure as an efficient and reliable broadcast channel while preserving the integrity of exchanged messages. And Algorand wasn’t selected merely as a generic example. The document discusses characteristics of the network including: → Fast transaction propagation → Gossip-based communication → Transaction ordering → Message integrity → Relay and participation node architecture Algorand becomes part of the communication layer for the MPC system. The proposed architecture can even attach MPC messages directly to the note field of Algorand transactions. Those transactions are then propagated through the network and recorded on the Algorand ledger. That distinction is important. This isn’t simply: “Algorand mentioned in a patent.” The patent describes an implementation in which Algorand can perform a specific architectural function: secure communication between MPC participants. And there is another important distinction. This does not mean the U.S. Air Force has adopted Algorand operationally. It means Air Force-backed research produced intellectual property in which Algorand is explicitly incorporated into the described MPC architecture. That’s already interesting enough without exaggerating it. Zoom out and the broader picture becomes fascinating. Algorand was designed from deep cryptographic research. Today we’re seeing it explored across: Secure Multiparty Computation. Privacy-preserving computation. Post-quantum signatures. State Proofs. Native PQ accounts. Different cryptographic problems. Different technologies. But the same underlying theme: building infrastructure where security is part of the architecture, not an afterthought. And in this case, the research behind that architecture carries a particularly interesting line: “GOVERNMENT SUPPORT” Awarded by the Air Force Research Laboratory. Sometimes the interesting part isn’t simply who mentions a blockchain. It’s what they’re actually trying to build with it.
