Not one thing that happened on 7 October 2023 justifies or excuses Israel's genocide of the people of Palestine. @Israel must end the genocide, apartheid and land theft. Palestinians deserve only a permanent end to Israeli violence, equality, peace, safety and reparations. 🕊️🇵🇸

Three years into Israel's genocide in Gaza, the newly launched Gaza Genocide Center is building a permanent, verified record of it, starting with testimonies from survivors. Its first, recorded in Gaza, is from Somaia El-Swerki. On Dec. 2, 2023, when she was 19, an Israeli airstrike destroyed her family's home in Gaza City. She lay trapped beneath the rubble for 21 days. Her mother died beside her on the seventh day. It's the first in a series of survivor accounts. The center is led by historian @JehadAbusalim, who is originally from Deir el-Balah and is a PhD candidate in History and Hebrew and Judaic Studies at New York University. Our first testimony from Gaza. Somaia El-Swerki was 19 when an Israeli airstrike destroyed her family's home in Gaza City. For three weeks she lay trapped beneath the rubble. Her mother died beside her on the seventh day. She survived. This is her account, in her own words.

Good evening, my friends 🤍🌿 I wanted to share with you a photo from my hometown, Beit Hanoun, in the far north of Gaza. 📍 Beit Hanoun was once a quiet, rural town, full of trees 🌳🌿, farms 🌾, and green spaces. Families used to come from all over Gaza to sit peacefully in nature, share a meal 🍽️, and enjoy a simple, beautiful day together. 🤍 Those places were once filled with life, laughter, and beautiful memories. 🌿☀️ But today, everything has changed… 💔 All that remains of those beautiful days are photographs 📷 and the memories I carry deep in my heart. 💔 I miss the Beit Hanoun I knew… I miss the days when life was simple, peaceful, and safe. 🕊️🤍

The world lost a hero today. The Israeli occupation murdered Mohammed Tamous while he was heading to save Palestinians from under the rubble, the same he’s been doing for 3 years. He was only 19-years-old when he took on one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, heading towards Israeli airstrikes to save people. He had his whole life ahead of him and for three years, he was a hero in Gaza, saving thousands of lives. We will never forget you. We are heartbroken.

On October 7, we remember those killed by Hamas’ horrific terror attacks on Israel, including Australian Galit Carbone. Our thoughts remain with her loved ones and all affected by Hamas’ abhorrent acts. We continue to work to combat antisemitism and terror in all its forms.

Smotrich will use this far-right platform to brag about collective punishment of civillians & systemic displacement. It is a stark reminder of what happens when extremism moves from the fringes straight into the cabinet. John Anderson has no shame to want to be a part of that.

This seems incredibly immoral of John Anderson, especially when there's an ongoing genocide of Gaza and ethnic cleansing of Palestine. Seriously, what on earth happened to Australia's moral compass and regard for international humanitarian law?! We (Australian parliament) have ratified the Genocide Convention Act 1949 and the spirit of that law should be honoured to defend the lives of innocent Palestinians surviving israeli bombs and drones, plus honouring those 10s of thousands of Palestinian civilians murdered by israeli IDF. At the very least we should be sanctioning israel for their war crimes in Palestine and not parading around with the likes of zionist provocateur Smotrich. FREE Palestine 🇵🇸 🍉🇭🇲❤️
