Imperial Core
Have you heard that capitalism is absolutely smashing poverty? Have you seen this graph? The line goes down impressively. Capitalism is not perfect, but at least things are going in the right direction. Just give it some more time. Right? WRONG.

"Real" on FRED graphs refers to CPI or PCE which both significantly undercount inflation as experienced by the working class, so the graphs are not accurate. Compare wages to price of housing.

When was this "default state"? There is no actual starting point and this "default state" lie is sick twisted meme of capitalism propaganda.

Poverty absolutely is the default state... Humanity didn't start wealthy... it created it from nothing

Wow, this got attacked by the army of capitalism defenders and bots. It even got a "community note" made by Elon's machine, but it's incorrect becaused I said "poverty" not "extreme poverty" and used a real threshold of $30/day in the US in 2025, much below the federal threshold.
No, poverty is not natural. Capitalism keeps people poor on purpose, because only poor people are willing to work for low wages. We're forced to. The fact that we have 80% poverty globally today is the curse of capitalism. It creates poverty on purpose.
Community note
World Bank estimates extreme poverty at ~10% globally in 2024 (under $3/day), not 80%. It was ~75%+ in 1820 and has fallen sharply since, especially with growth in market economies. blogs.worldbank.org/en/opendata/se… ourworldindata.org/extreme-povert…

Povert is the natural state of humanity That we have classes of people who are able to marshal resources such that can have iPhones and trips to Dubai is the miracle.

Poverty is not "the starting point of nature" --- most human societies have their ways of producing what they need and they simply do the work year after year, and sometimes develop better ways of producing what they need and want. There is no starting point and it's not poverty.

Poverty absolutely is natural. It is the starting point of nature. You are born with nothing. If you were born in a remote tribe in the Amazon, or an indigenous tribe 1,000 years ago, you wouldn’t not have wealth. Your bare feet would walk the earth, rags would cover your body, you’d shape sticks into spears and arrows to hunt. You wouldn’t have wealth. Be born into wealth is unnatural, and a privilege afforded to you by capitalism. Learn to be grateful for what you have and the time you were born in.

Poverty is a capitalist machination. They tricked you into thinking poverty is just "when you have no money" but if youre born on desert island with plenty of fish, food, shelter, resources and amenities, you certainly wouldnt feel poor.

People who ask Grok to evaluate what "do your own thinking" means in regard to using Claude to think for them. Jesus christ you can't make this up.

Capitalism defender really tries to say capitailsm is fine because you can take a loan and go to Nepal and never repay it... as the solution to the fact that capitalism keeps people poor.
What if you moved? Say you take a loan (what's the biggest loan you can take?) cash out, and fly to some far away country, and live off the grid? (Never repaying that loan). Don't you have that option? What's stopping you?

Yes, I agree that poor economic migrants do lower wages. And yet it's not the *main* cause of the low wages, and also those economic migrants are *caused* by the same system that makes wages low as a baseline --> capitalism's foreign policy is imperialism. It destroys countries.
Replying to @JohnRad15
"whatever you can manage to get for your labor" which is less, BECAUSE THE MARKET FOR LABOR HAS BEEN FLOODED WILL MILLIONS OF EXTRA PEOPLE. This is not a hard concept, dude. If there aren't enough laborers to go around, people who need laborers have to pay more to get them. A 9yo with down's can understand this.

Nope, that's the reversal of cause and effect. There's homelessness (everywhere, not just "Democrat cities" and also rural -- everywhere in the USA) because capitalism keeps housing expensive and wages low. That is the cause. You've got a conspiracy theory, a false one.
Replying to @KeepingKen
No. Not true at all. Go on the road and start talking to the overly large homeless populations in Democrat run cities. Blue city tax dollars fund homelessness while politicians shove dollars in their pockets and blame the rich

Wow that's a rich conspiracy theory to benefit the elites who control the world and command our labor. Capitalism is class slavery. Yes the capitalists do like large poor populations. More cheap labor. "Harumph!"
Replying to @KeepingKen
no there's always some despot with a big hat urging the poor to procreate fast so the devil can urge them to flail at the frail mortals who got wealthy first. This also involves the devil playing both sides with virtue signaling and moral harrumphing that would be good if it weren't mostly wrong and hypocritical and self-dealing

Calling capitalism "the free market" and acting as if poverty means "inability to provide value to anybody else around you" certainly *does* make you morally deficient.
Replying to @JohnRad15
Failure in the free market certainly doesn't make you morally deficient. Those two things aren't even remotely comparable. However, the inability to provide value to anybody else around you is a certain kind of deficiency and will reflect negatively in a free market society. Unless you want a job in government of course, then that deficiency seems to be prerequisite

Replying to @AltMarket1
No, it's still "true capitalism" and the people have gotten poorer for decades because of offshoring of all production possible to the cheaper countries the US keeps poor on purpose by overthrowing any real democracy, every single time.

Capitalism is so successful at immiserating the world to keep the people so poor and in danger that many leave their homes and kids to go to a foreign land at risk of their lives to work as a subclass of slaves. Seriously, check out the CIA coup of 1954 for a prime example.
Replying to @GaiusXrp @JohnRad15
Capitalism is so successfully that the entire world is breaking down our borders to enter our white homelands and once they are here they immediately jump on the welfare rolls and vote Democrat so they can stick it to the white man.

I am a carpenter. I know how things work. Capitalism is working well for the rich. If food stamps avoids a revolution, it's worth it to them to spend 1% of their profits on it. Meanwhile, they tax the less poor working class to fund it, so it doesn't take from them anyway.

"Socialism" is a word to represent the world of possibilities other than capitalism. Capitalism is class slavery of the many to the few and makes most people "losers" in the sense that we're structurally subjugated -- not because we are deficient but just because we are enslaved.
Socialism is when losers make winning illegal.
