“Do whatever you need to do to save your baby girl.” “Hi! We just wanted to send a quick note to thank you all so much for your support last week. It was, without a doubt, the scariest experience of our lives, and we cannot tell you how much it meant to know that when we reached out to our Care Advocate, there were no pre-approvals, permissions, or hoops to jump through. We were simply told, “Do whatever you need to do to save your baby girl.” In that moment, that meant everything to us. After my C-section, Saylor was in such critical condition that I wasn’t even able to see or meet her. She was transferred to the NICU with Austin while I remained in the hospital recovering. For two full days, I could only see my newborn baby through FaceTime. Being separated from both my husband and our daughter, stuck in a hospital and completely helpless, was incredibly difficult. We are so incredibly grateful to share that Saylor James was discharged from the NICU Friday evening! According to her doctors, she made a remarkable recovery. She went from being unresponsive and requiring resuscitation twice at birth to coming home with us just four days later. It truly feels like a miracle, and God is so good. We wanted to share a few photos from our little journey so you could see the family behind all of this. The work you are doing truly matters, and your support gave our family one less thing to worry about during the most frightening days of our lives. We will never forget it. It has been a tough week. I have gotten two notifications that we lost Crowdies over the last week. A one year old unexpectedly passed away while on vacation. I found out this morning that a husband and father of 3 passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday while he was at his son’s sports practice. One of them I had met, one I hadn’t. I was debriefing my wife this morning on our Denver MeatUp last night and told her “I have never met these people, but it felt like a gathering of friends and family.” The best moments of this job is when we can love you well during your hardest moments. The hardest is when we lose a Crowdie. I celebrate with you. I mourn alongside you. I’m praying for you. I’m honored to serve you and your families. -Andy

Eight months as a self-pay patient and the part that surprised me most: No network. I go to whatever doctor I want. I tell the front desk I’m self-pay, I cover the first $500 of a health event, and the community funds what’s above it. Nobody in the middle deciding what counts. @Joincrowdhealth
