Today, I visited a school that I’ve been supporting. Prior to September they relied on cold call & mini whiteboards. In September they launched ‘I say you say’ and ‘choral response’. So much joy & energy in every classroom. I’ve also found unexpected benefits of these strategies:

Should this have been a penalty?

This makes no sense!
One is a penalty and one isn't. No consistency whatsoever

Tears man, I actually can’t be asked anymore. 2 of the same incidents in 2 weeks with 2 completely different outcomes. Arsenal denied a clear penalty, the reffing in the country STINKS ❌
Last week Sanchez got a touch on the ball but it was still a red card and foul. We get consistently robbed by the PGMOL.

Today I used 'I say you say' with the key word "travelling" (in 🏀), followed by explaining the definition, Turn and Talk to get students to rehearse definition, feedback from sample, reintroduce key words "flow" and "more than two steps", rehearse again

ISYS gave a high ratio of engagement and reinforced the culture in the room. T&T allowed for the reinforcing of key terminology and then rehearsing again and again with key language drilled in. Definitely be embedding this process in my practice.

Great post. Two strategies I'm keen on using more and more in my praxtice
*New post!* Choral response & 'I Say You Say' are two techniques I use with high frequency during my explanations. Although they seem simple, there is a lot of thinking behind them. bunsenblue.wordpress.com/202…

As a SENDCO, you need to know what is going on in class. You need to make sure students are receiving quality-first teaching. You need to be able to diagnose where this isn’t happening so you can support teachers to develop their practice. sendmatters.co.uk/2021/11/04…

This is splendid for two and a half minutes of teaching. Ratio, assessment and habits of attention all 👌
Another Friday, another wonderful clip of the week. Here is a lovely snippet of Y7 French. #workhardbekind @GreenshawTrust
