“CMS is cooked” is probably the worst of the ‘is/are cooked’ series.
Why would anyone use a CMS anymore?
It feels so archaic to open up a Webflow, WordPress, or HubSpot visual editor and click around editing text and uploading images.
I'm doing all of my content management the same way I write the front-end code.
CMS companies are cooked. It's just extra baggage nobody needs anymore.

Inspired by the things my dev and designer buddies are building, I decided to have a go at building my own tool to help me manage client projects.
This is heavily inspired by a tool created by @hunterthompson, and the idea to generate a brief wasn't part of my original plan until Joe Taylor mentioned it. He's got something much better in the works for that feature with his own product, so keep an eye out.
I build this with Astro in Codex, but I designed everything myself in Figma.

Splitting text with text-wrap: balance is now solved 🥳
New open source library: kugiri (区切り). Already running in production on several of my sites, now public.
It splits text into lines, words and characters, the thing every text reveal needs. The difference is where it cuts. Most splitters guess where a line breaks, and the guess falls apart the moment the text does something real: text-wrap: balance, hyphenation, a drop cap, a float, a link that wraps, RTL, Japanese.
kugiri does not guess. It asks the browser where the lines already are and cuts exactly there, so the split text looks pixel for pixel like the text before it.
No animation, no scroll watching, no opinions. Every unit gets an index and the library gets out of the way. Animate with CSS, the Web Animations API, GSAP or Motion.
One file, no dependencies, about 7 kB gzipped. The demo is also the test suite: fifty situations, each checked against what the browser painted, in Chromium, WebKit and Firefox.
