🚨 HSBC JOINS CANTON NETWORK VALIDATOR SET🚨
40M clients might start using the world’s largest banking and institutional blockchain rails without ever noticing.
@HSBC is deepening its roots in the blockchain industry, from launching the HSBC Orion tokenized asset platform and expanding tokenized settlement capabilities across bonds and private assets to active participation and integration on
@CantonNetwork.
You should take note of this: validators won’t earn liveness rewards after April 30th. The only profitable way to run a Canton validator is durable TX volume contributing to the network.
@HSBC is one of the most important financial institutions in the world, operating at the center of global finance with unparalleled scale, reliability, and trust. As a leading international bank, HSBC serves millions of customers, businesses, and institutions across retail banking, wealth, commercial, and global markets, enabling trillions in cross-border flows annually.
Breakdown of their successes:
➜ $300B+ market cap
➜ ~$71B annual revenue (ex notable items, FY 2025)
➜ $3T+ total assets on balance sheet
➜ 40M+ customers worldwide
➜ 62 countries and territories covered
In their validator proposal (for an HSBC-managed validator on the Canton Network testnet), HSBC plans to contribute to network resilience, provide operational feedback, prototype regulated financial market use cases under their Digital Assets initiatives, and onboarding internal developers and potential partner projects.
This positions HSBC to evaluate, integrate, and participate more deeply in the Canton ecosystem while supporting tokenized asset initiatives like Orion.
As John O’Neill, Group Head of Digital Assets & Currencies at HSBC, stated: “Driving liquidity in digital asset markets requires ecosystems with strong connectivity and market access.”
We can see today from CT uproar that Canton’s CRM is threatening general-purpose blockchains. Why? Because they thought they’d be receiving these flows and they’re realizing the jig is up.
