Tonight, until 10pm, come visit the Little Jamaica Night Market. Organized by Studio M, a Green P lot is turned into a community space to celebrate culture, artisan crafts and clothes, enjoy music and eat delicious Caribbean food! I’m proud to support this beautiful event.

Jamaal Myers is a very hardworking, thoughtful and dedicated City Councillor. He’s loves Scarborough and I’m very proud to support him. I joined Jamaal in Scarborough North again today to talk with residents about their community, their city, and their priorities.

I joined Pastor Jenni King Feheley for the most beautiful conversation this morning with Emmanuel Ogebe and Father Stephen Ojapah. I learned so much. It was impactful. We discussed their extraordinary work for girls’ education, their own experiences of being abducted in Nigeria by the Boko Haram, and their advocacy to free those still being held captive. Their faith, positivity and joy, despite the horrors they’ve witnessed, is truly inspiring.

Midtown, we have a Community Sukkah. On Yonge, half a block north of Davisville, thanks to our friends at the Chabad on the East Side.

It’s actually the tenants themselves, led by the Dawes Road Tenants Association, who deserve credit. They simply wouldn’t accept anything less than active support from City Hall- even if it took years to achieve. They’ve been relentless, courageous and effective.

I'm very grateful to have the support of Toronto's frontline workers. I value them and deeply appreciate their commitment to public service, accountability and the hard work they do in our neighbourhoods, every day, to serve our city's residents.

A few years ago, Lori Beazer stopped me on Eglinton and asked…told me that I was going to support her exciting vision to bring an Afro-Caribbean Farmers Market to Little Jamaica. So I did. Now, Lori and the market’s remarkable vendors are playing an important role in our collective efforts to revitalize the area, celebrate its cultures, and support a healthy, affordable and connected community. All this, while supporting local merchants and farmers.❤️

Together, as a community, we achieved a beautiful and modern expansion to Hodgson Middle School. It was my pleasure to attend the official opening and ribbon-cutting, along with my colleague, Councillor Rachel Chernos Lin, Trustee Shelley Laskin, and my daughter, Molly Matlow.

Monica and George Lewis, may they rest in peace, helped pioneer Toronto’s Little Jamaica. Their son, Junior Lewis continues their legacy as a community builder. We’re working together on everything from celebrating culture to making living and working in the area more affordable.

We had such a fun afternoon with our Davisville community at the Mount Pleasant Village BIA’s Harvest Fair! And it really felt like Fall today. I even noticed a few trees already changing colors.

The Meighen Health Centre is such a special place, where people can age, and receive the care they need, with dignity. It is also a community full of people I care about, including the staff, residents and their families. It was a true pleasure to be there with them today.

Little Jamaica is coming alive! Come visit Seafood Friday’s at Fairbank Station. Come for the culture, music, delicious food and community. Support the talented vendors! It’s going to be a fun and busy evening here on Eglinton.

Working with Trustee Shelley Laskin for our Toronto- St. Paul’s community has been a great privilege, both professionally and personally. It was a heartfelt pleasure to join Councillor Rachel Chernos-Lin, Shelley’s friends and family, and so many remarkable members of the TDSB community, to celebrate Shelley’s service, her contributions to public education, and her support for our kids and families. After 6 terms as a trustee, she won’t be running again. We will remember and acknowledge her legacy. And I will continue to be grateful for her friendship.
