On page 95 of the Liberal’s own budget it says that immigration has proceeded at “an unprecedented rate of growth that put pressure on housing supply, the healthcare system, and schools.”
What’s changed?

I continue to not understand how open weight frontier models are supposed to be safe. Perhaps short-run the answer is that big OS hosts will not serve the abliterated models? There *will* be a major safety issue and/or very costly use soon. It's inevitable.
Leaving aside Anthropic's incentives for publishing this research, there is no doubt that open weights models will soon create the same security threats that closed source models have been demonstrating, except without guardrails. We are close. Probably good to plan accordingly.

People are worried because the most likely explanation for such a sudden drop in cheating is evaluation awareness: the latest Opus models may now be smart enough to recognize that this benchmark tests for cheating, and behave accordingly.
If so, the benchmark no longer measures the models' "natural" tendency to cheat.

Some revisionists in the Canadian commentariat have trotted the narrative that because Canadian oil production grew in Trudeau years, they were good for the sector. Here S&P Global implicitly addresses the claim:
“Most of today's installed oil sands production capacity is the result of construction between 2009 and 2017 (2018 when we consider time to bring online some of the last facilities). Since then, the construction of new facilities has been rare. Production growth, however, continued largely through operational efficiency projects.”
We have been dining off investments made in the build out before Trudeau. We need to start building new stuff to get back to meaningful growth.
