I don't want any followers. May not look it, but I adore Japanese arcade action games, chiefly the STG.

Kinda reminded of drills in the 2000's
Looking back its kinda funny how much of a trend the ocarina was back in the late 90s with how often it would show up in several different series

On the topic of Zelda, I need a steel drum calypso rendition of the shop music.

I really think people need to get past the need for everything to fit within a continuity/lore/timeline. It's massively tainting their view of things. An Easter egg is not Nintendo saying Zelda is part of Mario's world. It's a joke by the people who made and love both games.
Their reasoning for removing the Mario paintings makes sense. I don’t really like it when Nintendo games imply an interconnected universe outside of Smash, especially not Zelda. But replacing them with a tapestry that depicts the entire game’s story is objectively worse

And you'd have to already know the plot to get what that tapestry is saying from such fuzzy, obscured detailing. Most new players won't even think to check the windows. Anyone doing so was checking for a thing they already knew of 20 years ago.

I played Wild in English when I went through it on Wii U back then. Awful. Not sure why I didn't change it. I immediately put Tears in French. Incredible. Ganondorf had actual grit. Zelda didn't sound like she was always about to cry. Everyone sounded so sharp.
been listening to ocarina reviews and every clip further vindicates my disdain of modern english voice direction. something has got to change man how does anyone find this listenable

I really am not as gungho about it as anyone else. I haven't really watched or played much where this topic becomes prevalent. But my family watches anime on Netflix. I don't know what those sound like in JP, but it is still shockingly bad in English even without JP context.

No one ever matches the characters on screen. Like I heard OPM dubbed for the first time weeks back and I think that was the worst case. It couldn't have been anything other than spite in the recording booth. I don't get it. We have done WAY better even if JP VA is superior.

My dog died yesterday. Please do anything you're putting off with your loved ones. I was going to take her to the beach this weekend because seemed stable. I miss my baby.

This Queen's Domain game is so wildly fucking good. I was thinking about this ALL night at work. A $16 game by two people gave me the exact kind of 3D adventure I've wanted for 20 years. Everything about it. I am set for the rest of the year.

The creators of Phantom Blade Zero don’t want players to suffer like they do in Dark Souls. According to the head of S-Game, life is already hard enough without having to struggle in video games too. The developers have tried to eliminate unnecessary frustration while keeping combat spectacular and intense: Death carries no major penalties. Defeated enemies do not respawn. Boss fights feature checkpoints between phases, so players won’t have to restart the entire battle. Three difficulty settings are available: Easy, Normal, and Hard. A permadeath mode unlocks after completing the game. “We want as many people as possible to have fun, relax, and enjoy the game. And for those seeking a challenge, we’ll offer an extra dose of adrenaline.” The core philosophy behind Phantom Blade Zero is to make players feel incredibly powerful rather than punish them for every mistake.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman believes people owning RAM is wasteful, and that it belongs in data centers instead. "From a global allocation perspective, actually, it’s quite terrible to have everyone have a bunch of the world’s limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer."

Unless Sinking Star lives up to the demo when I finally buy it and The Big Catch manages a 2026 release being everything I hope from it, this won't change much. I had a lot of fun this year.

The difficulty of Queen's Domain is being dramatically overblown by the usual kinds of players. It is engaging. Enemies do need to all be taken seriously. And it is a very fun game. But you really should not be dying often at all once you have the starting weapons.

Everything can be dodged manually with baits, kites, and misdirects. Weapon specific dodges are never required and nothing is a guaranteed hit from enemies. You are showered in healing like Demon's Souls. And daggers are CRAZY.
