L’an dernier, j’ai eu l’honneur d’être nommé Grand Officier de la Légion d’honneur. Je tiens à exprimer ma plus profonde gratitude à un cher ami et à un allié indéfectible du peuple canadien, le président @EmmanuelMacron. Je suis immensément fier de tout ce que nous avons accompli, ensemble, au bénéfice des citoyens de nos deux pays. Bonne fête nationale! 🇨🇦🇫🇷

This Bastille Day, I’m reminded of the incredible bond between Canada and France, forged over years of partnership, unity, and friendship. Last year, I was honoured to be appointed Grand Officier of the Legion of Honour. I’d like to share my most heartfelt thanks to a dear friend, and a steadfast ally of the Canadian people, President @EmmanuelMacron. I am incredibly proud of everything we accomplished, together, for the people of both our nations.  Bonne fête nationale! 🇨🇦🇫🇷

Strong democracies rely on free and open conversations among neighbours, friends, and fellow citizens. Only then can trust be built, and can progress begin. It’s always been a pleasure to visit Finland, and this was no exception 🇨🇦🇫🇮. Thank you to SuomiAreena for having me, and creating the space for these important discussions.

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon brought dignity, wisdom, and compassion to the role of Governor General at a time when Canada needed steady leadership and reflection. As the first Indigenous person to serve as Governor General, she helped our country move forward with greater honesty about our past and greater hope for our future. She carried the stories, strength, and perspectives of Inuit communities into Rideau Hall and into the heart of our national conversations. Over these years, Canadians saw a leader who listened deeply, served humbly, and reminded us that reconciliation is not a destination, but a responsibility. To me, you were a source of deep wisdom, an insightful, compassionate elder, and a good friend. As was Whit. Thank you, Mary, for your service to Canada and for helping shape a more inclusive and compassionate country for generations to come. Nakurmiik, Ningiukudluk.
