.@Uniswap settled 140 million trades in August, more than Cboe BZX and NYSE American combined. NYSE American has been around since 1908. Uniswap launched in 2018. Five years ago it was ~2 million trades a month. Next rung up: NYSE Arca, at 232 million.

Now on Ethereum Mainnet: @Trueo_ A decentralized prediction market built on Uniswap
Glad to see that Ethereum L1 will have a new strong prediction market contender that is dedicated to decentralization, and being ethical and not corposlop, and to actually trying to do interesting and meaningful things with this class of economic primitive. firefly.social/post/x/210212…

I will be shit scared of AI when it finds a formulation for cancer/ to reverse diabetes, demonstrates it works, and does not share the knowledge until humans provide something in return or work for AI. There will be AI gods. @elonmusk

So NRI breaks USD FD in USA and sends to India to get more returns and then India sends the money back to USA buying treasuries @vijayshekhar @ShivAroor
BREAKING: 🇮🇳 India bought a record $15.2 billion in US Treasuries in July, up sharply from $3.39 billion in June. This pushed India's Treasury holdings to their highest level in 10 months. The buying is tied to a special RBI scheme that pulled in $136.3 billion in foreign currency between June and August, mostly through NRI deposits, pushing India's own FX reserves to a record $785.7 billion.

Dario has written that we need to “pace the frontier,” and Sam has agreed. People may be surprised by my response: go ahead. You guys are the frontier. By any reasonable metric — market share, revenue growth, model capability — the two of you have a duopoly on frontier intelligence. You’ve also claimed the lead is widening because of recursive self-improvement. I don’t see what you see in the lab. If the unreleased models are scary enough that you think you should slow down, I support your decision to be responsible. But stop pretending you need anyone else’s permission. Stop pretending antitrust law has to be suspended so you can form a cartel. Stop pretending you need a regulatory approval process that supersedes product liability. Stop pretending METR is independent when it is intertwined with Anthropic’s investors and staff. Stop pretending you need those same evaluators to police competitors who aren’t even at the frontier. Most of all, stop pretending the motivation to slow down is purely altruistic. You face massive product-liability exposure if your products enable a truly damaging cyberattack. The market already punishes models that behave in unpredictable or unauthorized ways. After the Hugging Face episode, it is simply good business for OpenAI and Anthropic to trade some raw power for reliability and predictability. Call it alignment if you want. It is also just giving customers what they want. Pacing the frontier would also create breathing room for a more intelligent conversation about regulation than Bernie Sanders’ “shut it all down.” China is very unlikely to join a global agreement, as you know, and that has to be taken into account as well. So go ahead and pace the frontier. You are the ones setting it. The easiest way not to build superintelligence is for you to agree not to build it. Demanding your preferred regulatory framework as the price of that will look like blackmail of the public and the political system. So just do it. If you do, you’ll buy goodwill for the next conversation. If you don’t, we’ll know this was just another bid for regulatory capture — or an election-season psyop.

Dr. Pratosh at IISc Bengaluru tells his students that rapid advances in AI are commoditizing intellectual labour. He raises an unsettling question: if companies stop recruiting on campus in the next 5–10 years—even at India’s top universities—what will the purpose of a university education be ? A must watch video for everyone in tech

My dad gave me a MILLION Confederate dollar bill when I was a kid. When I asked him what I could do with it, he said, "Nothing." That's what's coming for the US dollar. First, a few retailers will say, "we accept Bitcoin” and then a few will say, "we ONLY accept Bitcoin." The moment that happens, people will panic and run to the bank. They’ll pull their dollars out and convert to Bitcoin. Please own some Bitcoin, so you don’t panic when people don’t accept your dollars. This is why I'm telling everyone the same three things right now: 1. Buy enough Bitcoin to keep your family alive for 6 months. 2. If you run a company, hold enough Bitcoin to pay your employees for 4 weeks. 3. If you manage a government treasury, put some percentage in Bitcoin. Full conversation with Coinage is linked below. 👇
