Thank you @ShelaghFogarty for your reflections on Oct 7th. As a British Jew it can feel very lonely & hearing sensible empathetic people like yourself provides support.

There are no words that can truly capture how the world has changed for Jewish people since October 7th. And there is nothing I can say today that hasn't already been said, more powerfully, by others. So I'll just share one of the many moments from that day, and the days that followed, that I will never forget. On the morning of October 7th, I was in synagogue when the news began to reach us. My brother lives in Israel - and we knew he was in the Gaza Envelope in the south, celebrating the Jewish festival of Simchat Torah with friends from the area. But even as the news came in of what was happening there, it never crossed our minds that he might be in danger. A few hours later, when we had returned home from synagogue, still hearing rumours of what was happening, a phone rang in our home. We are religious Jews. On Shabbat and festivals, we don't use our phones. But my great-grandmother, Lily, a survivor of Auschwitz, was unwell, and the hospital had asked my mother to keep hers switched on. My brother knew that. He was calling under instruction from the community's rabbi. He told us that terrorists had surrounded the area. Only a handful of local residents were armed, standing between the community and dozens of heavily armed terrorists. No one knew what would happen next, or whether Hamas would manage to break in and murder them. He was, in essence, calling to say goodbye. My sister took the phone and told him she was pregnant. None of us knew. She told him then because we didn't know if we would ever get the chance to speak to him again. Then the call ended. And we carried on with Shabbat and Simchat Torah, not knowing what would happen where my brother was. Knowing that some of his friends, who had gone outside the gates to see what was happening, had been shot at. Some of them were murdered. We didn't hear from him again until the next day. I have never shared this before. Because our story ended with another phone call, the next day. So many families' stories ended so differently. You will struggle to find a single Jewish person who doesn't have a friend, a friend of a friend, or a family member who was affected that day. Three years on, I think about that phone call often. About what it means to call your family knowing that, on the road outside, there are terrorists trying to get into your community to murder, rape, pillage and destroy as much as they possibly can. And about what these three years have meant for Jewish people and Israelis everywhere. We will never forget. We could not, even if we tried. The trauma of that day runs too deep, through almost every Jewish family around the world.

Tsachi and Ma’ayan. My stomach is in knots. The sky is bloated grey and the clouds contract like sobs. We tell your story again and again. Grateful for the chance to keep you alive with one more sentence, one more word. To remind them of your life, and terrible death. Dear world, Tsachi and Ma’ayan Idan lived. And loved. And were loved. We will never let them forget.

Oct 7th = Jewish schools need police outside. It's not about pro-Palestine, it's about Jew hate.

Be in no doubt if you are marching today, the anniversary of the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust you are a Jew hater, you are a racist. #NeverAgainIsNow #AmYisraelChai

This was the Kapshitter family. They were on a camping trip to celebrate Ethan turning 5th years old. Hours after turning 5, Ethan and his entire family were gunned down by Hamas in their car as they drove home on October 7th. Remember them.

I am familiar with the Hannibal Directive. It is real, and so is the reason it exists. What it is not: a plot to kill Israelis for sympathy, a pretext for war, or a license to murder civilians and blame Hamas. What it is: cold arithmetic, written in the summer of 1986 after Hezbollah ambushed an IDF convoy in south Lebanon and dragged off two Givati sergeants, Yosef Fink and Rahamim Alsheikh, both 20. Hezbollah kept them. In 1991 Israel declared them dead. Their corpses came home in 1996, traded for 45 prisoners and 123 Hezbollah bodies. That's is what the order was written to stop. The order is simple, and it only applies in certain places at certain times: stop the abduction even at risk to the captive. Because once a Jew disappears into enemy territory, their odds collapse. In 2006, Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev were ambushed inside Israel after Hezbollah crossed the fence. Their bodies came back in 2008. The price included Samir Kuntar, who in 1979 landed a dinghy at Nahariya, shot a policeman, and dragged Danny Haran and his four-year-old daughter Einat to the shore. He shot Danny in the back of the head at close range in front of the child, then smashed Einat's skull against the rocks with his rifle butt until her brain came out. Brain tissue was found on the rifle. Her two-year-old sister Yael was smothered in a crawlspace by their mother, trying to keep her quiet so the terrorists would not find them. A normal society locks a man like that away. Shia Hezbollah gave him a hero's welcome. This is the abject evil we are dealing with. Weeks earlier, Sunni Palestinian Hamas stole Gilad Shalit and held him 1,941 days. No Red Cross. No family. He came out gaunt, pale, and malnourished, kept alone underground. The price was 1,027 prisoners. One of them was Yahya Sinwar serving four life sentences. He went home to Gaza and built October 7. October 7 was live-streamed in 4K for the whole world to see. Hostages shot in the back of the head in tunnels when the Palestinians were not given what they wanted. The Bibas boys murdered in captivity, the corpses ransomed for rapists and murderers they name streets after. Crowds of men, women, and children cheering dead Jewish babies. Hostages raped, then murdered. And if they were one of the lucky one, not in that order. So the math is simple. A car full of terrorists and a hostage racing for the border: you shoot to stop it. The chance of surviving the attempt, inside Israel, is higher than the chance of surviving what waits on the other side. If you were in that car, which bet would you take? If lunatic Muslims returned captives unraped, unstarved, unmurdered, this doctrine would not exist. Anyone who raises Hannibal is confessing to the savagery it answers. Most of the dead on October 7 were killed by Hamas. Every one of them is Hamas's fault. The scandal is not the calculation, but the Muslims who made the calculation necessary by waging a 1,400-year war of extermination against the Jews. The Hannibal Directive is the lesson that there are fates worse than death.

This is a painstaking account of the abhorrent increase in anti-semitism in this country. No one should be in any doubt that British Jews are under attack and need our support. How British Jews have been punished for their religion since October 7 telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

Never forget Palestinian civilians kidnapped this family, not Hamas.
Never forget the Bibas Family. 💔🇮🇱 Kidnapped from their home 3 years ago on October 7th 2023. Held hostage in Gaza. Then killed in “cold blood” by their captors. This is what ‘Free Palestine’ activists mean when they call for Palestinian ‘resistance.’

3 years ago we awoke to unimaginable horror families burnt alive, party goers mowed down, elderly murdered in their beds. But worse was the response so-called humanitarians abandoned Jews & pushed hate not seen since 1930s. Today I'm an Oct 8th Jew scared but proud #AmYisraelChai

October 7th, 12:50pm. The Palestine Solidarity Campaign contacts the Metropolitan Police to request a national march against Israel. This is documented via a Freedom of Information request obtained by the Jewish Chronicle. Hamas militants are still actively killing at this moment. Israel has not declared war. It has not conducted a single retaliatory strike. It has not entered Gaza.
George, the timeline answers your question more powerfully than any placard order date could. October 7th, 6:30am. Hamas launches its attack. 1,200 people murdered. 251 taken hostage. The Nova music festival massacre is still ongoing. Families are still being dragged from their homes. October 9th. The first march takes place. Hundreds march through Kensington High Street outside the Israeli embassy. Placards ready. Slogans ready. Infrastructure deployed. October 13th. Six days after the attack and four days after the first march, Israel drops evacuation leaflets over Gaza City warning over one million civilians to move south before any military operation begins. Hamas instructs residents to ignore the warnings and stay put. October 27th. Twenty days after the Hamas attack and two weeks after the evacuation leaflets, Israel launches its full scale ground invasion of Gaza. Now look at the placards. The Palestine Solidarity Campaign organised the October 9th march. Their name is on every placard. They were the organisation that made the 12:50pm call on October 7th. Professional branded placards in those quantities require a minimum of 48 to 72 hours for commercial printing, artwork sign off, scheduling and delivery. The march was two days after the call. The order was almost certainly placed before the attack began. That is a logical inference from the logistics. The 12:50pm call is documented fact. The protests were not a reaction to Israeli military action. They were ready and deployed before Israel had taken a single military step inside Gaza. The genocide placards were printed before the military operation being called a genocide had begun. The infrastructure of protest, the slogans, the networks, the funding, was built long before October 7th and October 7th was the trigger it was waiting for.

Evyatar David was held hostage by Hamas for 738 days. The terrorists forced him to dig his own grave. "They tried to take all of us and take our lives and ruin our family's life and everybody's here's life," Evyatar said. But Evyatar and his former hostages continue to be resilient and rebuild their lives. "That's the biggest closure and victory."

Where is your decency? Stop being such chicken shit appeasers.

On October 7th, Hamas terrorists stormed Eli Sharabi’s home in Kibbutz Be’eri, murdered his wife and two daughters, and dragged him into Gaza. He spent 491 days in a tunnel. Now, for the first time since that morning, @EliSharabi7 is seeing in detail what happened. The stories of October 7, the stories of his captivity, and a nation united fighting for his safe return. Eli said, “To understand someone fighting for you and they doesn’t know you, that’s amazing.” I was honored to walk with him through “We Shall Rise,” an immersive exhibition on the rooftop of Azrieli in Tel Aviv. Ziv Koren has been photographing every single day since the morning of October 7. Noam Horev put it into words. Together they built something that is not about what was taken from us, but about the fact that we are still here. Still breathing. Still living. Thank you Eli for your courage, and for sharing this with me. We Shall Rise runs through October 30. If you’re in Israel, you have to go.
